FAQs

Question

Can I bring a plus 1?

Answer

We would love to invite everybody! Unfortunately our venue is limited on space. At this time, if your original RSVP does not have a "guest" added to your name, please refrain from asking about bringing an extra guest until after we have received RSVP's. June 3rd is our deadline. Due to limited seating, we will not consider extra guests until then. Thank you for understanding!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please everyone RSVP by June 3rd.... That means ~~everyone~~!!! Please RSVP even if you have verbally told us, even if you are thinking to yourself "oh they know I'm going". We thank you all in advance! If you can't make it, truly, truly don't sweat it. It's an expensive and very distant trip for most of our friends and family. We love you all!

Question

Do I fly into Juneau? Where do I fly in to?

Answer

Nope, not Juneau. You will fly in to the Anchorage airport! Then you need to get down to Seward.

Question

How long is the drive from Anchorage to Seward?

Answer

2 hours and 20 minutes by car. 4 hours by train. 3 hours by bus. It's a beautiful scenic highway where you can see mountains, glaciers, whales, moose, lakes, ponds, birds, and more! This article lists some sights you may want to stop for along the way. https://www.alaska.org/guide/seward-highway

Question

How do we get down to Seward? Where can we book bus and train tickets?

Answer

Click on the travel tab above and all the information with links included are there.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Please click on the "travel" tab on this website. We have them all listed there! If you are using your phone to view this website, click on the three lines in the top left corner, it will bring down a menu and click on "Travel". On a computer, there should be tabs you can click at the top of the page.

Question

What is the temperature and weather like that time of year?

Answer

July is the best time for weather in Alaska. According to google "Daily high temperatures are around 67°F, rarely falling below 61°F or exceeding 75°F. Daily low temperatures are around 54°F, rarely falling below 50°F or exceeding 59°F." It's likely to be sunny but it's a temperate rainforest so there's always a chance of rain. Bring your coats and rain jackets. But Alaskans also swim in July. So, if you wanna be brave and try it out, it's a lot of fun!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Dressy Casual but please bring a rain jacket/umbrella if it's raining that day. High heals may not be the best choice at this location. It would be smart to bring a light jacket, just incase the weather is a bit chilly. https://www.theknot.com/content/what-to-wear-dressy-casual

Question

What stores are in town where we can grab any last minute things we need?

Answer

There's a Safeway grocery store and a locally owned store called "Seward Marketplace". There's a health foods natural store with limited items downtown called "Frontier Trading Post". One of our most versatile stores in town is the Fish House/Bay Trader's Hardware. This is where you will buy any camping/fishing gear and fishing licenses. If you need to go to Wal-Mart, Costco or Target then Anchorage is your only option. Anchorage is the city you fly into, so it's best (and cheapest) to grab things before heading down to Seward.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

It's a pretty small town. About a mile long! There is a free shuttle that goes around and passes many hotels. Details on the travel tab. Or you can call Resurrection Taxi (907) 224-5678. They charge $9 to go anywhere in town, about $15-20 to go to the hotels right out of town. Walking along the coastal boardwalk is beautiful as well! Click on travel tab for more info.

Question

How soon should we reserve hotels, cars and any activities we want to do?

Answer

ASAP. July is the busiest month of the summer. So, there will be a lot of people also wanting to reserve things. The earlier you book things, the easier and cheaper it will be. I would book things by the spring for best options. Most hotels and tour companies begin allowing people to make bookings starting the October before (October 2021). There are often same day bookings for different tours/activities. However, there's no guarantees. Also, most outdoor activities are weather dependent. Just remember that weather is unpredictable in Alaska.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be outside on a grass lawn or in the woods on a cleared dirt area with some uneven tree roots at parts (location is weather dependent, but will know night before and will communicate to all guests) and the reception will be inside a building that James built with his own hands. I am very proud of him and honored to be able to share such a beautiful spot in Seward with you all!

Question

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

Answer

We have hotel blocks at The Breeze Inn and The Harbor 360 Hotel. Click on "travel" tab for more info.

Question

Will there be any vegan/vegetarian/gluten free/special diet options?

Answer

Please reach out to us if you have any dietary restrictions and we will see what we can do. :)

The Cookery for amazing wine, oysters and fried chicken. Karen's favorite restaurant in town. Pretty much only reservation only. Worth it. Get all of it. Seward Brewing Company for American craft food, Resurrection Roadhouse for GREAT views, yummy dinner and great beer, Lone Chicharron for AMAZING rock fish tacos or a bangin' carnitas burrito (Not like Tucson's...but still good), Resurrection Art Cafe for great coffee, art and vibes. Sweet Darlings for gelato, fudge, candy and milkshakes. Ray's Waterfront for a beautiful fancy dinner on the water, Apollo's for Greek/Italian, The Flamingo Lounge for the best fried halibut in town. If you like crepes then you HAVE to go to Le Barn Appetit Creperie, The Smoke Shack for great breakfast plates, Firebrand for best BBQ in town and good breakfast burritos. The Porthole for good hangover breakfast. The Highliner for good biscuits and gravy. Red's Burger's for a really good but expensive burger. Gold Rush for good American food. Breeze for diner style food and good cold beer (good halibut chunk fish and chip and cheeseburgers). Lighthouse Bakery for cheap lunch but lower tier food.
