Meet our groomsmen and bridesmaids

Mark Baglien

Best Man

Hi, I'm Mark, 28, and I'm an Industrial Appraiser based out of Salem, Oregon. I met Jay when we were going to school at Oregon State University, not long after he became one of my best friends, and someone who I knew I could always count on. While Jay is often known as the happy go lucky guy, who brings a lively positive energy to any setting, most start to realize there is far more to Jay than just what meets the eye. From his love and support of his friends and family, to his honesty which means you know you're going to get his real opinion even when it's not what you want to hear, to his work ethic and ambition which have helped him achieve the goals he's set out to achieve. Jay is truly a man I have come to admire as much as any, and a man who inspires me to be a better man every day. My hobbies include shooting, hiking, axe throwing, playing darts, losing to Jay in Beerpong(he probably cheats), and engaging in a seemingly never-ending battle with 225. I am beyond excited for Jay and Sydney's special day and their life together going forward.

Melissa O'Shea

Matron of Honor

The story of Sydney and Melissa begins in the late 90’s. Fast friends since Kindergarten, we’ve been together through school talent shows, sleepovers, babysitting, concerts, and both working at Dairy Queen for our first real jobs. From trips to Disneyland and Seattle to roommates in college, we are always there for each other. Now Sydney and I both have bought homes, gotten puppies, and found the loves of our lives, we are friends who who’ll stay best friends forever. (I know that sounds cheesy but we actually had matching t-shirts in grade school that said that!)

David Glenn

Best Man

He is a figure that evokes thoughts of greatness, intrigue, and perhaps even a touch of mythology. To fully grasp the essence of David Glenn, one must delve into his multifaceted character and the remarkable experiences that have shaped his life. Throughout high school, David and Jay shared a strong bond through sports. They spent summers at Jay's house, where Jay's father, Dr. Brown of Timber Linn Chiropractic's & Wellness center, would declare in a British accent, mustache well-groomed, "We are not running an orphanage, Justin!". In 2014, David embarked on a monumental mission—to spread democracy throughout the world. He joined the prestigious ranks of the world's greatest Air Force. After years of unwavering dedication and anticipation, the ultimate reward materialized as he was bestowed the honor of becoming the best man. One of the many times David was home on leave, he met Sydney for the first time. In that instant, David knew deep within his heart that he had discovered the perfect partner, someone who shared an equal amount of affection for Jay. The bromance between David and Jay had reached its conclusion, but the joy of observing Justin and Sydney's relationship has been a source of immense happiness. After an eternity of waiting, Jay found the opportune moment to propose. Like the Billy Joel song "Piano Man" David is still in the Air Force, and probably will be for life. That being said, it is a life worth living if I get to see my best friend get married.

Marlo Wall

Bridesmaid

The beginning of my journey with these two started with Jay, about 10 years ago. We worked at Love Love Teriyaki together, and bonded over our love for Love Love sauce, making questionable choices, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers (lol). Some might say he even saved my life at one point, pulling me up from the jaws of a whirlpool on the Santiam River. I can confirm. Little did he know he’d save my life once again, by introducing me to one of my very best friends. YES, Sydney! We quickly found that we had much in common, stemming from our cats, our love for Arctic Monkeys, new adventures, poking fun at our men, and “girls clubs”. These two are home to some of my most treasured memories, it’s been the biggest joy to watch Jay and Sydney grow and continue to fall for each other. I wasn’t sure if Jay would ever pop the question - but now that he has I can’t wait to continue to watch them grow through all of the stages of life to come! There is no doubt Sydney and Jay were made for each other, and they better everyone around them. And if they don’t better you, they’ll at least make you laugh.

Austin Brown

Groomsman

My name is Austin and I am Justin's brother. He is the youngest sibling of us four in our family and I know I speak for everyone when I say we are so excited to see him get married. We have been through highs and lows, tears and laughter throughout our lives. One continual source of laughter is Justin's complete inability to be able to find anything, even if it is staring him right in the face. You ask him for ketchup that is on the top shelf, facing out and he won't see it after searching for 10 minutes. Since Justin takes his time searching for what he seeks, I know he truly loves and is meant to be with Sydney and his search for a perfect match is over. I am honored to stand by my little brother on his wedding day and I look forward to seeing what the future brings him with Sydney.

Makenzy Bellwood

Bridesmaid

Sydney and I first met in College at Oregon State University where we became close over late nights, studying, intramural volleyball, football games and silly college parties. We have remained friends for several years no matter where life seems to take us and move us around. Then came along Jay and we bonded over Marvel and his true love for cats. Knew he was a keeper when he fireman carried my drunk ass through Corvallis. Several hungover horror movie marathons later and they are my friends for life. I love these two more than anything and I am so grateful to be a part of their special day ❤

Tyler Day

Groomsman

I have know Jay since our school days but our friendship flourished after a chance encounter at the Albany pool. It was bromance at first sight. Living so close to him made our friendship grow as we would workout daily and jam out to EDM. As our careers have taken off we still work to stay close. Jay is the kind of guy that brightens the room and will make you laugh and Sydney only amplifies that. I’m very lucky to call Jay such a close friend and look forward to seeing these two start this next chapter in life.

Jenna Drader

Bridesmaid

Hi my name is Jenna. I’m a proud new momma and a registered dietitian. Sydney and I met when we were both living in the Athena house in Corvallis. We discovered that we both had a passion for food and nutrition and our friendship blossomed from there. I had the privilege of being there when Sydney and Jay met! Sydney was a bridesmaid in my wedding and now I’m excited to be one in her wedding!

Peter Baglien

Groomsman

Hey, I’m Peter (30), and I am an active duty officer in the U.S. Navy working in orthopedic surgery. I am currently stationed in San Diego, CA. I have known Jay for nearly a decade. Spending countless hours together over the years undoubtedly has made a big influence on my life. The time spent in competitive game nights, driving to various places to adventure, and hanging with family has turned a friendship into family, and Jay is one of the very few people that I consider to be like a brother to me (in addition to my actual brothers). I have known Sydney since the first day they met, and have watched their lives together grow into the beautiful relationship it is today. I have seen them strengthen, support, and mature together, and I am inspired by the love and joy they share with each other. I am beyond excited for their upcoming step in their lives. All they can do is keep taking life a quarter mile at a time.

Hannah Edwards

Bridesmaid

My name is Hannah and I'm an Oregonian living in sunny San Diego! Sydney was my roommate in college, and we bonded over our love of The Office and The Bachelor - just two basic bitches making our way through our final years of school together. Little old me had no clue that when we moved in together that she was dating someone who went to my high school AND was bff's with my childhood neighbor (shoutout David Glenn). Jay, Sydney, and I spent the next year forming memories in our little apartment that included Star Wars marathons and heated Settlers of Catan game nights. Having been a part of their journey as a couple, it is no surprise to me that we have finally made it to this big day! I'm honored to be here. Cheers to the happy couple and I'll see you on the dance floor!

Luke Pebley

Groomsman

My name is Luke, I have been married since 10/2020 and just became a father to a wonderful son in January 2023. I have known Justin, Jay, or JJ, however you know him by, with lots of adventures and/or shenanigans over the years through both playing/coaching water polo and being roommates. He has helped me through lows and been there for some of my highest highs. He was a Groomsman in my wedding and will be know as Uncle Jay to my son. He is now marrying a great woman who can handle everything about him and funnily enough was friends with my wife growing up. I look forward to watching Jay and Sydney's marriage grow and know they will have a fun party to celebrate it!

Stefani Cooper

Bridesmaid

My name's Stefani. I am the one and only eldest sister of Sydney so I've known her for a minute. Growing up, there isn't a lot we didn't go through together between the ups and downs of life. My favorites being cheerleading as a pastime. I'm super excited and honored to watch my sister start this chapter of her life with the one she loves as one of her bridesmaids.
