La Carreta

The classic Cuban restaurant where Constance introduced Alex to Cuban food. It’s also our favorite Cuban restaurant in the city right in the heart of Calle Ocho (out of several La Carreta locations). Needless to say, he was a fan!

Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College

This museum is a national historic landmark tied to Cuban-American history, located in the vibrant heart of downtown Miami across the street from Bayfront Park.

Miami Open Tennis Tournament

This world-class tennis tournament takes place in March on the same weekend. Although we haven’t been ourselves, as annual US Open attendees, we’ve heard great things about this event and thus deem it worth checking out!

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

A historic waterfront estate with sweeping gardens and gorgeous views of Biscayne Bay. It’s one of Miami’s most beautiful places to wander and explore.

Pérez Art Museum Miami

Lowkey, bayside bar at the UM School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences that’s a super chill spot to grab a beer.

University of Miami

Beautiful and green campus of our alma mater. It’s changed a lot since we graduated!

Another authentic Cuban restaurant located closer to the U and Coconut Grove. Went here many a time when we lived in the neighborhood. Go for a meal or grab a cafecito (Cuban coffee) and pastelito or croqueta (or both) at the window, real Cubano style!

Nice breakfast/brunch spot we used to hit up regularly. One of the places that’s still around from our time in the area!
