A scenic drive through Acadia National Park that winds past ocean cliffs, forests, lakes, and iconic viewpoints. It’s an easy way to see many of the park’s highlights, with pull-offs for photos, short walks, and stunning coastal views. We have always loved this drive, but especially during the busy summers to talk and get away of the chaos of town.
Downtown Bar Harbor is a charming, walkable area filled with local shops, galleries, cafés, and restaurants. Shopping and dining on Main St. and Cottage St. has classic New England vibes and offers great views of the harbor. We love strolling around town and playing tourist during the summer!
Cadillac Mountain is the tallest peak on the island, with breathtaking views of the harbor and Porcupine islands. It is the first place in the continental US to see the sunrise every morning! Unfortunately, reservations are required to drive up Cadillac Mountain, so please keep that in mind!
Where Connor proposed to Roxy! The Shore Path is the most accessible and beautiful path on Mount Desert Island. Located right in downtown Bar Harbor, this walk along the water is beautiful and one that Roxy does almost every day!
The Bar Harbor Historical Society offers a glimpse into the town’s rich past, with exhibits on local history, Gilded Age estates, and life on Mount Desert Island. It’s a great stop for a quick, interesting look at Bar Harbor’s heritage.
Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co. offers unforgettable boat tours to see whales, seabirds, and Maine’s rugged coastline. It’s a fun and memorable way to experience the Atlantic Ocean and spot marine wildlife during your visit. We have lived here for 4 years and still havn't done a whale watch - hopefully that will change soon!
Jordan Pond House is a historic Acadia landmark known for its famous popovers and tea, with beautiful views of Jordan Pond and the Bubbles. It’s a perfect stop for a relaxing meal after exploring nearby trails and scenic paths.
The only ocean beach on the island! Sand Beach is beautifully nestled between granite cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean. Access is off of the Park Loop Road.
Thunder Hole is a natural rocky inlet carved into the shoreline of Mount Desert Island. During high tide or large storms, waves crash into Thunder Hole making a loud thunderous sound. Also where Roxy's best friends, Addison (Roxy's Matron of Honor) and Dominik got engaged!
A fun bar located in downtown Bar Harbor, one of our favorite places to go! Also an oyster bar!
Our favorite pizza shop on the island! Every summer we love to grab a pizza and have a little picnic in Agamont Park overlooking the harbor.
Connor's family's ice cream and candy store! Also, where we met the summer of 2021!
A great pub to grab a meal right by the water! Also where Roxy had her first drink on her 21st birthday!
Lobster pound right on the water with great views of the harbor! Also where we went after going hiking (our first hang out)!
One of the best pubs in town!
A newer addition to Bar Harbor, this has become our favorite places to get steaks!
One of the fancier restaurants in town. We celebrated Connor passing the bar here!
Another fancy place if you'd like a nice dinner out!
Our favorite cafe in town! Open year-round, we love stopping here during our winter walks through town.
Our favorite Indian restaurant! We love getting takeout here in the summer and eating in the park!
Another fun bar right in town! We love to come here and sit on the outside patio and people watch! Also has free popcorn :)
Where we went on one of our first dates! Roxy won (of course), but Connor swears to this day that we missed a hole on purpose and cheated!
One of our favorite breakfast spots in town! We always go here for Connors bday breakfast!
The Seal Cove Auto Museum is a unique and engaging museum located in Seal Cove on Mount Desert Island, just a short drive from Bar Harbor. It’s a must-see for automotive history fans, curious travelers, and anyone interested in early 20th-century innovation.
A fresh water beach located in Acadia National Park with stunning views of Beech Cliff! We both grew up coming to Echo Lake Beach as kids!
