We are excited to celebrate with you!

The first real conversation we can remember having was, of course, the two of us riffing off each other and telling jokes that were only funny to us. The theater program at Wake Forest was selling old T-shirts at a discount, and when asked how much they were, the girl selling them said "They're 5 and 10". At the same time, Connor and I both said "So...15?" and we thought we were hilarious for that. We then started listing various items and splitting their price into 2 separate numbers, such as "Can you pick me up a 10 and 2 of eggs?" or "Can you lend me 20 and 5 dollars?". (In reality, the short sleeve shirts were $5 and the long sleeve shirts were $10, but we were already doing stand up about it, so it was too late to clarify)

I knew that Connor really liked me (Erin) when I asked him to 'weird documentary and chill" with me. In what has become a defining piece of media for us, we watched the controversial yet brave documentary "Dark Legacy". This documentary starts out deceptively normal, and is a classic investigation into who killed JFK. The documentarian (hero) claims that it was all a conspiracy by the Bushes to further their stakes in a company called Zapata Oil However, as it progresses, it becomes more and more unhinged and includes high tech special effects in which the faces of several key political figures (most notably, the elder George Bush) photoshopped onto the bodies of characters from the Wizard of Oz. Not only did Connor sit through the entire thing, he was just as into it as me, and here we are almost 10 years later. I wonder if that documentarian (hero) knows what an integral part he played in our relationship.... P.S. A sequel, Dark Legacy 2, claims that the younger George Bush was responsible for JFK Jr.'s plane crash! (yes, we also watched that one).

This story felt straight out of a rom com. Right before we started dating (after the 5 and 10, before Dark Legacy), we had attended a meeting for the study abroad trip we were both going on the next semester. Connor was in the habit of riding a bike across campus (and not wearing a helmet), and he came up behind me and my friend going down the hill to the fine arts building. As he sped past us, he yelled something along the lines of "See ya shitheads!" over his shoulder, and promptly hit a brick and went flying over the handlebars. He was so still that I turned to my friend and said "We just saw him die". However, he eventually started groaning and I called campus EMS. Everyone is fine now, and my parents did buy him a helmet and knee pads for our first Christmas together.
