Isla Mujeres is a small island off the coast of Cancun. You can fly into Cancun airport, and then from there you will have to take a shuttle to the ferry that goes over to the island. We will have links on our Travel page to book transportation from the airport to the island, which will include both the shuttle and ferry ticket. From the ferry, the hotel we booked is just a short walk or taxi ride away. More information on our room block will also be on our Travel page, but there are plenty of hotels and airbnbs on the island if you wish to stay somewhere else. You may also stay at a resort in Cancun if you prefer, where you would just have to take the ferry over to the island on the day of the wedding. The wedding venue, IXI Beach, is located on the beach directly next to the private beach area of the hotel. You can walk over to it easily from the hotel so no need for taxis and other transportation that day if you plan on staying there.
The dress code for the wedding is Beach Cocktail Attire. We will be in the sand for the ceremony and other areas of the venue, so heels are not recommended unless you want to take them off and be barefoot in the sand. We request no shorts or flip-flops please for the wedding, but they are fine for the welcome dinner. Short sleeve button ups with dress pants are suitable for men - no jacket and tie required. We want everyone to be comfortable but still look their best for all the beautiful photo-ops at the beach venue. The dress code for the welcome dinner is casual beach cocktail attire (ex. sundresses or maxi dress/skirts for women and Hawaiian type shirts with pants or shorts for men).
We recommend staying at the hotel where we booked our room block, Privlege Aluxes, as it is the closest to the venue. This is an adults only hotel that offers both standard rates (includes breakfast) and also all-inclusive rates, so you can choose whichever you prefer. We liked that the all-inclusive rate is optional as there are plenty of amazing restaurants on the island to explore if you wish, and we will be providing dinner for all guests at a welcome dinner on Sunday night (optional) and also at the wedding on Monday. If you prefer to stay somewhere else on the island, we recommend staying in the downtown area. If you prefer to stay at a larger all-inclusive resort in Cancun, some of our favorites are Riu Palace Peninsula and Hyatt Ziva.
There will be no children invited to the wedding. Our room block is also at an adults-only hotel.
Yes! Instead of having a smaller rehearsal dinner, we are hosting a welcome dinner the night before the wedding which all guests will be invited to. We will provide more details on this soon!
Yes, of course! Our venue has options for vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, or gluten free dishes. Please let us know what you need so we can accommodate you and make sure you enjoy your meal(s)!
The hotel we selected is located in between the wedding venue and the welcome dinner location so guests can easily walk to both and no other transportation is needed. On the wedding day, guests are requested to meet at the hotel beach bar at 5:30 so our wedding planners can guide everyone to the venue and depart together as a group.
