We decided a small destination wedding in one of our favorite places felt more like us than having a big traditional wedding closer to home. As much as we love all our family and friends, we felt our day would be less overwhelming by having just our immediate family and closest friends there. We realize traveling may not be convenient for some and completely understand for those who cannot make it.

Connor proposed at Stonington Vineyards on their way to the Mohegan Sun Tequila Festival with friends on a Saturday in July. Patty’s matron of honor Vicki, Vicki’s husband Luke, and Connor all told Patty they wanted to go on a wine tour there that day before going to the casino. It was one of Patty’s favorite wineries so no questions asked, Patty was down to go but started to grow suspicious of the plans as the day got closer. To her surprise, the tour was actually just a cover to get her there where Connor had planned his proposal for months with the help of some of the Stonington Vineyard staff. One of the workers took them out into the vineyard grounds to where Connor had them set up pictures of their pets hidden in a small clearing beside the grape vines and popped the question there! It was a perfect day followed by a night of celebrating at Mohegan!

In our first year of dating, we went to 7 weddings together - some of which we had to travel for but most close by. But the first real trip we took together (aside from all the weddings!) was to Cancun. This quickly became one of our favorite places to visit and have been to many times since, but a trip to Cancun is not complete for us without a visit to Isla Mujeres, where we decided now to have our wedding! In between visits to Cancun, we have traveled to Nashville, Las Vegas, Savannah and Hilton Head with family, Ocean City MD, New Orleans, and Montreal to name a few! We are so excited for our biggest trip of all for our wedding weekend and can’t wait to share this next adventure with those closest to us!
