During your stay at Cigarral de las Mercedes, we highly recommend setting aside time to explore the city of Toledo itself. Known as the “City of the Three Cultures,” Toledo is a place where Christian, Jewish, and Muslim history meet in a stunning blend of architecture, art, and traditions. The city is over 2,000 years old and has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its beautifully preserved medieval streets, walls, and landmarks. From the majestic Toledo Cathedral to the Alcázar fortress and the winding cobblestone alleys filled with local shops, every corner holds a piece of history. Perched above the Tagus River, Toledo offers breathtaking views and a timeless atmosphere that makes it one of Spain’s most beautiful and historic cities. It’s the perfect backdrop for our celebration—and a place we hope you’ll enjoy exploring during your visit. We have started a google maps list of some of our recommendations in the city. Feel free to take a look.
Since everyone will be flying into Madrid, we highly recommend spending a day or two in the capital before or after the wedding. From Madrid, it’s an easy trip to Toledo—whether by car (about an hour’s drive) or by train. The city is full of world-class museums, beautiful parks, historic neighborhoods, and incredible food, offering the perfect balance of culture and fun to start or end your trip. We have started a google maps list of some of our recommendations in the city. Feel free to take a look.
If you are staying at our venue, Cigarral de las Mercedes, we also highly recommend you spend some quality time there. Most of our family and friends will be staying here for two nights, making it the perfect place to relax and connect. The hotel has a pool, a pool bar, and a lovely lunch spot—all ideal for enjoying the Spanish sunshine. We would love to spend as much time with you as possible on Sunday during the day and again on Tuesday morning after the wedding.
