Both Mike and Melissa moved to the East Bay from the East Coast about ten years ago. Each finding themselves alone, they just so happened to join the same sport to meet new friends. That sport? Recreational, coed adult dodgeball. They met at a local bar sponsor called George and Walt's where they stayed talking until the bar closed. That night turned out to be the first of many as season after season of wins, losses, and friendships progressed through the years. It was at a 100-player last-man-standing tournament at Pyramid Brewing that the power couple known as "Stolissa" solidified. The tournament was a rough battle, but in the end only Mike and Melissa remained.

The weekend of January 11th, 2020 Mike surprised Melissa with a trip to Sea Ranch, CA. After a long, winding drive up Hwy 1, they found themselves in a 1970's treehouse-style cabin nestled in the redwoods just a stone's throw from the coast. After a fun day exploring beaches, enchanted chapels, and the strangest wine tasting they had ever experienced, they returned to the house to get ready to go out for dinner. Mike had other plans though! Melissa noticed a trail of tealights leading into the forest. Taking her hand, Mike led her along the path to a redwood grove lit by rings of candles. With hundreds of flickering lights around them, Mike got down on one knee and asked Melissa to marry him.
