Travel & Accommodations

Flight options, hotel recommendations, and more for our out-of-towner guests.

Flight

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

There are many airports in the area but SEA-TAC is the largest international airport with the most connections and flight options.

Flight

Paine Field Airport

Paine Field is the closest airport to the island and the easiest considering it is a few minutes from the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal. However, because it is a regional airport the flight options may be limited and the prices may be a bit steeper.

Travel Note

Route Options

After you get off your flight you can either rent a car or take a shuttle up the Whidbey Island (which Sam can provide the information for). If you chose to rent a car you will have two options: 1. Straight Shot: Drive North on I-5 to the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal. You will drive onto the ferry going to Clinton. It's about a 25 minute ferry ride. Once in Clinton on the other side of the sound, continue to drive north on 525 towards wherever you've chosen to stay. We reccommend this route. The views are breathtaking and worth the extra money to take the ferry, and less driving! 2. Round-a-bout Route: Drive all the way up I-5 to Route 20 towards Downtown Anacortes and follow it down the island towards your lodging.

Luckily for us, the island is a summer travel destination providing endless private home rentals. It being a hotspot for summer weekends, housing rentals go fast! We recommend booking as early as possible if you're considering going this route as 46% of the island was booked up in September 2020 for our specific 2021 weekend.
