A Walk in the Woods/Pre-Wedding Social

Sugar Creek Retreat is located just outside Shades State Park. If you would like to spend your morning there hiking or picnicking, make yourself at home. You may park at the wedding venue and simply walk across the street to enjoy this beautiful Indiana park. Modern and rustic restrooms are available in the park, and we will have two portable toilets located at our venue. Then, around 4:00 pm we invite you to begin gathering in the woods near our ceremony site. We will have several yard games, card games, and a few hammocks. So start socializing, reconnect with old friends or make some new ones. Then, we will start the ceremony around 5:00 pm, or whenever we are ready to make this thing official. (*Note: This is a fully outdoor wedding. Yay for nature! There are two cabins on site, but they will be in use by the bride and groom.)
Ceremony/The Real Deal

This is an outdoor wedding in the woods. We love nature! So may we suggest wearing something that makes you feel beautiful, but also quite comfortable. We highly recommend sensible footwear as you will be walking on a grass path through the woods to get to the ceremony and reception sites.
As mentioned above, we invite you to begin gathering between 4:00-5:00 pm. Near 5:00 pm, or whatever time tickles our fancy, we will direct you to the ceremony site. You may sit on the wooden benches or feel free to stand. This part of the evening will be brief and beautiful.
Reception/The Party
6:00 pm
Yes! We did it! At this point Josh can breathe easy because Rachel finally said 'yes'. It's time to party! We will be serving a buffet style Taco Bar (because we love tacos!) and dancing until the stars come out. If you would be so kind as to let us know if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, we would love to make sure we have something delicious for all to enjoy!
Campfire After Party
8:00 pm
For anyone who would like to stick around, you are welcome to join us for the afterparty and chill by the campfire. Feel free to bring your favorite campfire beverage, camp chair, and a story or two about the bride or groom to share. We can end the night under the stars soaking it all in.
