Flight
The Bride & Groom will be flying out of Little Rock (LIT) on Tuesday 4/2/24 and land in Belfast City Airport (BHD) on Wednesday 4/3/24. Don’t feel obligated to depart this early OR be on the same flight as us. However, if you want to be American tourists for a few days prior to our Wedding, let us know so we can make some plans together!! Keep in mind that Ireland is 7 HOUR AHEAD of the US, so there will be a significant time change. Be mindful when planning your departure date to allot for potential cancellations or delays. Rental Car
We recommend reserving a rental car while in Ireland due to our remote wedding ceremony location that is not reachable by public transportation. Booking one well in advance will ensure the best rate and availability for your trip. We bundled our rental car with our flights on Priceline.com. This ensures we are able to pick-up our selected car from the airport shortly after our landing and then drop-off our car shortly before our return flight. Here are some things to keep in mind: - Be mindful when reserving a car whether you want it to be MANUAL or AUTOMATIC. If you want an automatic car, it’s recommended to make your reservation well in advance due to the limited supply. - Do you want petrol or diesel fuel car? If you plan on driving a lot of miles, a diesel fuel car may be in your best interest. - Most rental companies in Ireland only accept credit cards as a form of payment. - Rental car insurance is required in Ireland, so figure that into your travel budget. - Inform your car rental company that you will be driving between both countries (if applicable to your travel plans) because additional charges and car insurance may apply. - Find out if your rental car has to be returned in the same country you originally picked it up in. For instance, if you pick-up the car in Northern Ireland but plan to end your trip in Ireland, extra fees may apply to return your car to a different country.
Travel Note
- Don’t forget, you’ll drive on the LEFT side of the road!! - Google Maps works in Ireland and can be used to help you navigate. However, be mindful that phone reception can be sparse in more remote areas. - Ireland rental cars can be driven throughout Ireland AND Northern Ireland. There is no physical border so it's likely you won’t even notice when you switch between the two countries. The main difference is that Ireland uses mph and Northern Ireland uses kmph. - Carry cash for tolled motorways. OR check with your rental car company to see if your car’s plate automatically charges your tolls to your car rental fee. In this case, you wouldn’t have to pay cash for tolls.
