Who would’ve guessed that when I went to the casino for my friend’s birthday that I would be hitting the biggest jackpot of a lifetime? 4+ years ago, I went to Hollywood Casino for my friend Abby’s birthday. There were 13 of us. I was the only single girl. If you’ve been to Hollywood, you know it’s not the prime spot to scope out a future suitor. We were people watching when I said “I wish there was someone cute here for me to look at.” And just like that, God answered my prayer. I remember seeing Vince across the dance floor and saying “wow, that guy is attractive.” If you know me, you know I’m loud, outspoken, and goofy. If you REALLY know me, you know I am backwards as can be when it comes to talking to someone attractive. I refused 100 times to talk to Vince and kept saying I just wanted to look at him from afar. We moved to the bar where we were closer to him. Abby decides to take matters into her own hands and approaches Vince herself. I felt like a turtle who just curled up in its shell when I saw what was happening. She comes back and says “he wants to dance with you.” How did we get here?! I felt like I could die. Vince continues to walk by us. Definitely intentional. It’s now gotten to the point where a woman sitting beside us is ganging up on me with my friends to do something. No way. I am bound and determined that I am not making the first move. This is where it gets good. Our new friend sees Vince, grabs him by the arm, pulls him towards us, and says “I want you to meet my daughter.” The rest is history. I think of that woman often. I wish I knew her name so I could thank her. If it wasn’t for Abby planting the initial seed and that woman making it physically happen for us, I know I wouldn’t have the love I do today. So that’s it. That’s the story of how we met. A casino, a lot of harrassing, and a fake mom. I can’t wait to tell our kids and their kids this story some day. It’s one of our favorites.
In August of 2019, we were trying to plan something for my 27th birthday. I wanted to go to the Finger Lakes but it wasn’t going to work out for my September birthday. Instead, we pushed the trip back to early November and planned to go with our good friends Jackson and Mariah. A few days leading up to our trip, Abby (who you met in our How We Met story) asked if I thought Vince was going to propose. I said absolutely not. We knew we’d be together but an engagement was something that I thought would happen later down the road. We just got our first place together and started new jobs. I thought for sure it’d be awhile until a proposal would happen. I was so sure of it that hours before he proposed, I was telling Mariah that I don’t get why people put so much pressure on their partners to propose if they know they’ll end up together anyways. It was safe to say I did not think it was going to happen for us 2+ hours later. We started that Saturday at Three Brothers Estates and before we left, we were in engaged! If you’ve been there in the fall, you know it’s a beautiful time of year. Of course we wanted pictures before we moved on from Three Brothers, so Jackson got his camera out. This wasn’t out of the ordinary since Jackson is a photographer and is always taking photos. I still had no idea what was going to happen. We stood in the center of the vineyard while Jackson took pictures of us. Eventually, he said “Ok, do something crazy.” which was his hint to Vince he was ready for the proposal. I obviously had no idea so I struck a funny pose and Vince followed my lead. Jackson then said “Alright, something else now.” and that’s when Vince got down on one knee. I’m so thankful Jackson was there to capture every moment. I went from pure shock to bawling uncontrollably to smiling from ear to ear. I was overwhelmed with happiness. At 12:12 that day, I became the future Mrs. Ingelido! It was one of our best days yet to date!
