Travel Note
Most of you have been to Seattle before - hooray! SeaTac is about a 25-30 min drive from downtown and a 45 min ride by light rail (Sound Transit Link). Arriving into SeaTac is fairly simple, but prepare for a 10-15 minute walk to the light rail station and a 5-10 min walk to a cab rank or Lyft/Uber pick up. Signage for transit could be better! Please call us if you have any concerns/need directions. You can ask for a flat rate or meter from the airport taxi service. Flat rates are around $65-80 depending on where you're staying in the city, so this is a good price point to compare to Lyft/Uber rates. If you plan to rent a car, you will take a shuttle to the car rental location which is about 1 mile from the airport. Renting a car will be paramount if you want to do any exploring outside of the city on your trip! Link light rail fare is $3 which would include a bus transfer upon arrival into the city. You can buy tickets at the station before boarding the train.
House Or Rental
Unfortunately there are not a lot of hotels in Ballard, but it is a short drive from downtown with dozens of hotel options. In terms of proximity, there is no better option than Hotel Ballard, but it is more expensive than many other choices. Our first recommendation for accommodations in the neighborhood would be VRBO and Airbnb - and of course this would also be ideal for bunking with friends and family! Clare has lots of feelings about the misrepresentation of locations on home rental sites, so if you have any reservations, please reach out to confirm that your rental is in a good spot! Convenient neighborhoods for the weekend include: Ballard, Fremont, Crown Hill, Phinney Ridge, Greenwood
