Things To Do

There is a TON to do in and around Seattle! If you can, we recommend building in a couple of extra days around wedding activities to enjoy the area. Need help planning? This was literally Clare's job once upon a time. Just ask!
Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Mt. Vernon, WA

For all of you we've been baiting with tulip fields for years, now is your chance to experience them! This time of year should be the end of the daffodil season and beginning of tulips. Mt. Vernon is about 90 minutes north of Seattle, so this journey would require a car and probably an additional day to your visit. P.S. Clare took this photo so this is very real!

Hiking!

Hiking!

There are hundreds of trails within 45 minutes of downtown Seattle. If you are renting a car, the world is your oyster (you should go eat oysters too by the way). Areas to explore include Snoqualmie Pass (I-90) & North Bend, northeast of Snohomish for some alpine lakes, and if you're taking an extra day or two, you can also visit Mount Rainier or Olympic National Park. Seattle also offers some urban hikes (Discovery Park, Carkeek Park) as well as great walking paths (Myrtle Edwards and Elliott Bay Trail, Seward Park). NOTE: There is still a lot of snow in the mountains at time of year! If you are interested in going into the mountains, you should pack warmer layers and bring microspikes or yaktraks. You can rent snowshoes and other winter equipment from REI and some smaller shops as well. (If you stick to coastal areas / sea level, you shouldn't need any of this.)

Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market

Seattle, WA

The Pike Place Market is an incredible place to explore while visiting Seattle, it's got something for everyone! There's the honey store where David buys honey, the magic shop on the lower level, the zig zag.... the list goes on and on. Whether you want to walk around and people watch, or grab a bite to eat and a drink, the market has you covered. Let us know if you need recommendations, we're happy to share some favorites with you.

Ballard Breweries

Ballard Breweries

Ballard Brewery District, Seattle, WA

If you like beer, then you should absolutely consider checking out one of Ballard's many breweries. There are several award-winning micro-breweries within walking distance of each other, with many food trucks around, so you have lots of options. Some of our favorites include Stoup, Reuben's, and Bale Breaker. Lot's of them have NA options too!

Olympic Sculpture Park

2901 Western Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121

Alki Beach

Seattle, WA 98116

Hit up Marination Ma Kai for Hawaiian food, rent bikes, or walk the 5-mile stretch along the water with sweeping views of the Seattle skyline and the Olympic mountains.

Bainbridge Island

Bainbridge Island, WA

You can walk on the ferry from the Seattle Waterfront and into downtown Winslow which has a ton of great restaurants, boutiques, and wineries, as well as a small but solid museum just a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Tickets are $10.50 round trip. You can also drive on, but be mindful of rush hours and busy weekend returns. If you decide to take a full day out Bainbridge way with a car, you can drive off the other side of the island into Poulsbo, a cute Nordic-themed town, and even drive as far as Port Angeles (1.5 hours) - your gateway to Olympic National Park.

Taylor Shellfish Farms

Taylor Shellfish Farms
