In some ways this is a very typical wedding and in other ways, we suppose its not. We are throwing a big party! Yes there will be food, music, dancing, hugs, noise, photos, but more informal than a seated, plated meal. Most significantly, our ceremony will be limited to our immediate families. We want to take advantage of the opportunity to bring together this unique grouping of friends and family (once in a lifetime, we know!) in a more casual format, with a few events over the weekend to capitalize on quality time. A lot of you live far away and have little babies and school calendars to contend with and lots of plans! If the logistics around getting here cause stress, skip it! For any of you who cannot make it work, we would love to host you in Seattle (or meet you elsewhere!) another time. We want you to be excited about coming out, exploring our beautiful state, and spending time with us - not overwhelmed.
We are having a small ceremony for immediate family only (since our families are already pretty big, this isn't even that small)! Thank you for understanding our desire to keep this really small. We understand if you don't want to fly across the country (or world!) for a party, but hope you will, as we are really excited to celebrate with you many times throughout the weekend! More than a wedding, this is of course a rare opportunity to join our favorite people together - many of whom we haven't had nearly enough face time with since covid. <3
Whatever you want it to be! This is a PARTY! Bring it. There will be good music and lots of dancing. Wear what's comfortable, what makes you feel awesome: jumpsuits, bolo ties, vintage, velour, pin stripes, high tops, crop tops, sequins, the finest polyester track suits, etc. There will definitely be people in suits and dresses. Take advantage of a valid reason to dress to the nines, or not! For those who prefer a more direct answer: cocktail attire, no jeans.
We love and would love to see your children over the course of this weekend! There will be kid-friendly events over the weekend, however, no children can join us for Saturday evening as we're hosting at a bar (21+). Child care is top of mind for us and we will be happy to help arrange babysitting as well as central locations to do so if folks want to share babysitters / space for their kids to hang out for the evening. Our network includes a large number of 20 somethings looking for cold hard cash (or realistically, Venmo or Zelle lol).
I wanted to make a whole page about this but Zola gatekeeps good sense and taste! Please please ask us where to eat! We can tailor recommendations based on neighborhood. Seattle restaurants err on the tiny side, so make a reservation if you can. *Here are some all-time-favorites (in no particular order):* RockCreek (seafood) Paju (Korean) Sushi Kappo Tamura (Japanese) Beast and Cleaver (whole animal butchery turned bistro at night) Taurus Ox (Laotian) Pancita (Mexican) Ciudad (your heart's desire) Le Pichet (French delight) King Noodle (custom noodle bowls and bad service) Communion (Seattle soul food) Grillbird (Teriyaki) Local Tide (seafood lunch spot - if the line is long, order from the brewery, Aslan, next door) Green Tree (Vietnamese/Chinese specialties, no frills, delicious) Dick's Drive-In (burgers and shakes and usually no place to sit) *In Ballard:* Walrus and Carpenter (oyster bar and Seattle dining darling) Pestle Rock (Isan *Northern* Thai - no Pad Thai here!) Rupee (Sri Lankan cocktail bar) Cafe Munir (Lebanese shareables - very veggie forward) La Carta de Oaxaca (Oaxacan style Mexican) El Moose (pan-Mexican cuisine - great for breakfast) Brimmer & Heeltap (fits no label!) Ray's Cafe (THE view) Sabine (great brunch spot, annoying staff) The Little Beast (the counterpart to Beast and Cleaver) Secret Savory (superb Thai) Pho Viet Nam (you guessed it) *Coffee Shops & Bakeries:* Rossellini's - some of the best pastries in Seattle KEXP - grab a coffee, shop some vinyl, watch DJs on the air
