Coming from far away? Never been to New York before (or not in a while)? Extend your trip to the Northeast and use our wedding as an opportunity to explore everything the city has to offer. Our venue is 50 miles from midtown Manhattan and easily accessible by MetroNorth Railroad from Grand Central Terminal.
Those of you who attended our engagement party already know how beautiful the views are on the Seaport Association's sunset cruise. They also offer tours at other times that allow you to explore Sheffield Island Lighthouse, which was built in 1868.
Located in a former ironworks, the aquarium offers a look at the marine life of the Long Island Sound.
Completed in 1868, this 44,000-square-foot "country cottage" formerly belonging to wealthy New York businessman LeGrand Lockwood is now open to the public for tours.
For those of you staying at the Circle Hotel, the hotel offers complimentary beach parking passes so you can avoid the steep $50 charge for out-of-towners.
Beach parking is free to anyone with a Connecticut license plate.
No matter which restaurant you pick in the heart of South Norwalk, you can't miss. Some of our favorites include Evarito's, Match, The Spread, El Segundo, Oishi and Mecha Noodle Bar. Around the corner on North Main Street, we love La Calle Arepa Bar and Caffe Social.
While more spread out than Norwalk's Washington Street, the Post Road in Fairfield has no shortage of great restaurants. Check out Centro and 55 Wine Bar for a nice meal, or Archie Moore's and Colony Grill for something more casual. Brick + Wood, The Sinclair and Geronimo are also great. For breakfast, Village Bagels has bagels that rival what any of our friends in New York have become accustomed to.
Dan grew up with this 155-acre nature preserve literally in his backyard. It has plenty of trails for a leisurely walk in the woods to look for wildlife. The visitor center is located on Burr Street, or you can enter the preserve at the corner of Hillside Road and Audubon Lane to walk the same trails Dan’s family used to.
