Tour the lake in style on a private boat

Tour the lake in style by renting a classic boat with a driver. We used this company and did a two hour tour during our last visit. There are several boat companies that offer this service and often times hotels can also help book a boat. Please book in advanced if interested as boats get sold out during peek season. Insider tip - other companies offer boats you can rent and drive on your own. This is a more economical option than hiring a boat with a driver.

Take the ferry to various towns on the lake

Here is the link to the timetables. There are various ferry locations throughout the entire lake so this is a convenient and economical way to get around. Note, the ferry does not run all night.

Visit the town of Bellagio

We recommend visiting the town of Bellagio within Lake Como if you have time. Bellagio, is the most famous town on the lake and offers the most to do and see. There are plenty of delicious restaurants and shops to visit in this cute walkable town. From our side of the lake, we recommend booking a private boat or public ferry to get there. Please note the boat and ferry times as they do not run all night. See recommendations in the restaurants section.

Visit the town of Varenna

Take the ferry or boat to this cute town. Visit Bar Il Molo for a coffee or apéritif. Tutti frutti is another great alternative close by. Walk down lovers lane ‘Greenway dei Patriarchi’. Check out Villa Monastero (waterfront villa and gardens) and next door there is a cute hotel - Hotel Villa Cipressi.

Visit the town of Como

Walk around town center pop in cute shops, restaurants, gelato, bars. Flat and walkable! You can also rent a bike. See recommendations in restaurant section.

Relax on the beach

Don't miss the chance to see Lake Como’s beautiful ‘beaches’. Beaches on Lake Como are the perfect place to relax during the hot summer days. Beaches can be found in every corner of Lake Como, but if you're looking for clean and pure water, it is recommended to head towards the central and northern parts of the lake.
