Check the GNP Website for updates on vehicle registrations. No vehicle registrations needed for 2026, but they will be implementing a 3 hr parking limit at Logan's Pass. More information on that to come. Logan Pass is the highest point on Going-to-the-Sun Road and acts as the main halfway point between the East and West sides of the park. It’s also where you’ll find some of Glacier’s most popular trailheads, like Hidden Lake Overlook and the Highline Trail. The visitor center has restrooms, info, and amazing views.
One of the few places you can see an actual glacier from your car! Look for the turnout along Going-to-the-Sun Road between St. Mary and Logan Pass. Great photo stop with signage explaining glacier loss.
Popular Hike from Logan's Pass. 2.7 miles round-trip. Scenic boardwalk to lake views and (often) mountain goats. Moderate but very doable.
Hike close to where we will be. Trailhead: St. Mary Falls Shuttle Stop/ Sun Point 1.7 to 3.5 miles roundtrip. Easy trail to two stunning waterfalls. Great for all ages.
Hike from Many Glacier. 3.6 miles round-trip. Easy hike, Flat trail through meadows and forest ending at a beautiful cascade. Moose sightings are common.
Glacier Park Boat Company runs scenic boat tours on several lakes throughout the park, including Many Glacier and St. Mary Lake, both near the wedding site. These historic wooden boats offer a fun and relaxing way to take in the views, and some tours even connect to hiking trails. Check out their website for details, schedules, and ticket info.
Near Apgar Village/ West Glacier Entrance No hiking required. Paddle, relax, or catch sunset views. Boat rentals are available and great photo ops with colorful rocks.
West side of the Park. Trailhead: Avalanche area parking, near Lake McDonald Easy/ Accessible 1-mile loop Shaded boardwalk and forest path through old-growth cedars. Wheelchair- and stroller-friendly.
West Side of the Park. Trailhead: Trail of the Cedars, connects halfway through. Moderate 4.5 miles roundtrip Popular family hike with waterfalls, wildflowers, and a peaceful lake surrounded by cliffs.
West side of the Park by Lake McDonald. Shops, gear rentals, coffee, and a chill basecamp near the park entrance. Great stop for snacks or souvenirs.
Montana is a fly fisher’s dream, and Glacier’s surrounding rivers and lakes are full of native trout. The park itself allows fishing without a license, but anywhere outside GNP (including nearby rivers and lakes) does require a Montana fishing license. Good areas for visitors: Swiftcurrent Creek (Many Glacier) Lake McDonald Two Medicine Lake or Creek Gear isn’t available for rent inside the park, so bring your own or rent from outfitters in nearby towns like West Glacier or Kalispell.
