✈️ Your Journey to Lesvos: Flights & Tips for a Smooth Arrival!

To begin your Greek adventure, you’ll fly into Athens (ATH), the main gateway to the islands. If you’re traveling from the NJ/NY/PA area, Newark (EWR) often has great options through United or Emirates, though JFK may also offer convenient routes. We recommend booking your roundtrip flights to and from Athens first, then arranging your domestic Greek flights once your itinerary is finalized. Aegean Airlines is the primary carrier for island travel, so be sure to leave enough time between connections. To reach Lesvos, you’ll take a short domestic flight from Athens to Mytilene (MJT), the island’s main airport. Airlines servicing this route include Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air, and SKY express. Upon arrival in Mytilene, you can take a taxi or rent a car to reach the Petra/Molyvos area. Taxis are typically available outside the airport, though we recommend arranging transportation in advance during peak summer travel periods or for late evening arrivals. If you are connecting directly to Lesvos upon landing in Athens, we strongly recommend allowing extra time between flights in case of delays. If you have any questions, please reach out to Christina. 🚗 CAR RENTAL RECOMMENDATION FOR LESVOS

The rental car company linked below is one option we recommend, though there are many others available if you’d prefer to explore additional options. IMPORTANT TIP: IF YOU NEED AN AUTOMATIC VEHICLE, MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY WHEN BOOKING. MOST CARS ARE MANUAL BY DEFAULT! INTERNATIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE: An IDP is usually not required in Greece, but some rental car agencies may still ask for one. Be sure to confirm with your rental provider before your trip.
