Our Story - By the Groom

It was the beginning of March 2018. We met on a picturesque New England night. Snow was steadily falling as I swiveled off through the storm to Nashua, NH in my crappy Honda Civic. Our dinner date idea options had dwindled down to YouYou Japanese Bistro. After living in NH for a few years I don’t know why this was our best option at the time… Despite the weather, I had a sense of optimism regarding my renewed effort to get out into the dating scene. This was the first date in a long time where I had felt genuinely excited to meet someone. Lindsay and I had talked extensively on Plenty of Fish, an app that I’ve often referred to as a desolate wasteland. As with most dating apps it’s always hard to judge if there will be chemistry between two people. We were very transparent and upfront about what we were looking for and I know that helped cut through some of the initial awkwardness of first dates. We sat down and ordered some Mai Tai’s and a chicken nugget appetizer that I chose to try and be funny. The Mai Tai’s were strong and the nuggets were pretty gross to be honest, but it made for good conversation and our first date really flowed from there. We talked so much that I think Lindsay had maybe 2 or 3 bites of her food. I didn’t want to leave anything to chance so I made sure to setup a second date with her right away. I knew after our first date that there was something special about Lindsay. Over a few months we grew to love each other. We became “Facebook official”. I unofficially adopted her cat, Nacho. I met her family and friends and they became my family and friends and vice versa. We traveled all over the country for weddings and just for fun. We cruised to Mexico and through the Caribbean and have made memories that will stay in my heart forever. I could go on and on, but I need to save some material for my vows. Lindsay, I can’t wait to be your husband and to continue writing our story.

The Proposal

2/29/2020

We took a cruise to the ABC islands with a group of friends in the beginning of March. We flew down to Fort Lauderdale FL the day before the cruise. Even though Lindsay managed to go rummaging in every hiding spot Joe thought of that week to hide the ring at the house, and the backpack that he held it on the trip, the proposal still ended up being a surprise miraculously. On Leap Day (2/29/20) our cruise was scheduled to leave. Being the early birds we are, we decided to take a sunrise walk on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Joe proposed on the beach during a beautiful sunrise and we ended up taking a big leap on leap day; Lindsay of course said, Yes!
