Christian and I met like everyone else in 2020.. online! After weeks of constant messaging, we finally met in person at Westcott Beach State Park. A week later Christian met my entire family while camping and it wasn't long after that we started dating. We've spent every possible weekend together since then.
Our first date meeting in person, was at Westcott Beach with two of our best friends. We spent the day swimming, teaching each other our favorite card games (Skipbo and Spades), and sharing some drinks. Just from those few hours, we knew we wanted to spend more time with each other and went on a solo date to Sackets Harbor two days later. I found out how much Christian loves to throw me off a paddle board. The night ended with dinner at Texas Roadhouse and a drive in movie to see Star Wars and Deadpool.
The day started off as what was supposed to be a beautiful and sunny spring day. Unfortunately, the weather did not play in Christians favor as it started raining the moment he wanted to propose. We were standing on top of a compass that was engraved into the ground at a park by the lake. The wind was strong and the rain was cold but nothing else mattered in that moment other than our love for each other. I'm not kidding when I say the sky cleared up only moments after we walked back to the car. To celebrate our future together (and the nicer weather), we grabbed some ice cream by the lake and spent the rest of the night celebrating with Laura's parents. Good thing rain is supposed to be good luck, right!?
