Chris and Leilani met working together at the restaurant Leilani hostessed at between breaks during college. Chris’ family had recently moved to the area, and he got a job there as a server. Leilani remembers the day they met, because of a random act of kindness Chris extended. Leilani was getting over a cold, and Chris ran out to his car to get some immune boosting supplements. Throughout the summer, they became good friends. Chris’ goofy personality brightened up long restaurant shifts. Eventually (with some friendly encouragement), Chris asked Leilani on a first date. The two went bowling, and the rest was history!

Leilani had just finished her second year of law school and was heading from Lexington to Northern Virginia to celebrate her birthday and then to fly out the next day to go on a trip to Europe with Chris. Chris said he wanted to take her to dinner at a surprise location for a birthday celebration the day before her birthday for just the two of them. Leilani went along with it. Chris picked her up Friday April 26, 2019 and they started heading towards what she thought was the restaurant. In reality they were headed to his parents’ home. In the driveway, there was a car service waiting for them. Then, they headed to the restaurant. They arrived at the Inn at Little Washington, and Leilani was shocked to say the least. They arrived fifteen minutes early to the reservation, so a staff member showed them around the beautiful gardens. Chris asked Leilani to close her eyes. Hiding behind the bushes were Chris and Leilani’s friends Jae, Mariah, and baby Mackenzie capturing it all. Chris got down on one knee, Leilani opened her eyes, and Chris asked Leilani to marry him. Surprise surprise, she said yes! Leilani was in shock, because what she thought was a birthday dinner was really their engagement (and usually nothing gets past Leilani). After she realized what had happened, Chris, Leilani, and the Silsleys shared a drink in celebration. Then, Chris and Leilani shared a phenomenal meal at the Inn.
