Fun Facts and FAQs

We understand that there will be many questions around COVID-19 and our wedding. We have tried to answer some of the main ones below, although this page will almost certainly change as circumstances change. We also added some fun facts about Chelsea, Rafael, Trip, and Lake Tahoe!
Question

WHAT IF I CAN NO LONGER ATTEND THE WEDDING DUE TO COVID-19?

Answer

Our top priority is making sure our loved ones feel safe at our celebration and, most importantly, stay healthy. If you are feeling unwell, we kindly ask that you stay home to help keep the rest of our guests safe. If, for any reason, you cannot attend our wedding we understand and kindly ask you to let us know as soon as possible so we can in turn communicate with our vendors due to the additional needed safety preparations at this time. If you have already RSVP'd and need to change your plans, please reach out to Chelsea or Rafael directly.

Question

WHAT SAFETY MEASURES ARE YOU PLANNING TO PROTECT GUESTS FROM COVID?

Answer

Reducing our guest list to allow for adequate social distancing during the ceremony & reception · Open air venue · Outdoor dance floor · Providing hand sanitizer at various locations throughout the venue · Hiring trained staff to serve food and pour drinks · Serving food as individual servings grab-and-go style · Utilizing disposable utensils & dinnerware · Keeping up-to-date on the guidelines and recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention · COVID tests for our Wedding Party

Question

WILL THERE BE A WAY TO WATCH THE WEDDING LIVE IF I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND?

Answer

Yes. We understand that these are unprecedented times, and we may ultimately have to cut down the size of our wedding significantly. Due to this, we've decided to live stream our Wedding Ceremony on Facebook. Please make sure you have Chelsea added on Facebook prior to the event to be able to view the ceremony.

Question

Besides the adventures, what are Chelsea and Rafael doing professionally?

Answer

Chelsea is getting her Masters in Teaching at Sierra Nevada University and hopes to start teaching in the fall of 2021. Rafael is working on the coursework and testing to become a realtor. In between, they are both scuba instructors in the summer and ski instructors in the winter.

Question

What kind of dog is Trip?

Answer

We know he is half German Shepherd, but don't know the other half. We got him at 7 pounds and were hoping he'd make it to 30 pounds when full-grown. He's now 76 pounds at 9 months and still growing...so you can guess about the other half...

Question

How is Trip going to be your ring bearer?

Answer

His worst trait is behaving on a leash, so we have absolutely no idea how this is going to go down...but our life is an adventure, so why should this be any different?

Question

WHERE CAN YOU BE TWO PLACES AT ONCE?

Answer

At Lake Tahoe, you can be in two places at once. That sounds impossible, right? Nope! Approximately 2/3 of the lake is in California and 1/3 is in Nevada. Most of you will be staying in California and attending our wedding in Nevada.

Question

HOW LONG IS A HIKE AROUND LAKE TAHOE ON THE TAHOE RIM TRAIL?

Answer

The Tahoe Rim Trail is 175 miles. Chelsea and Rafael got engaged on the TRT and plan on backpacking the whole thing next summer!

Question

How deep is Lake Tahoe?

Answer

Lake Tahoe is deep enough to cover the Empire State Building. Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America, is about 1,644 feet deep. To put that into perspective, you could completely submerge the famous Empire State Building in New York, which stands at 1,454 feet at the tip. It’s the second deepest lake in the United States and one of the deepest in the world.

Question

HOW MUCH WATER IS IN LAKE TAHOE?

Answer

The lake could cover the entire state of California in water. There’s approximately 36.15 cubic miles of water in Lake Tahoe — or approximately 39 trillion gallons. According to Keep Tahoe Blue, that’s enough water to cover a flat area the size of California with 14 inches of water. It’s also enough to supply everyone in the United States with 50 gallons of water per day for five years!

Question

HOW WIDE AND LONG IS LAKE TAHOE?

Answer

At its longest and widest, Lake Tahoe measures 22 miles (35 km) by 12 miles (19km).
