Our families have attended the same church in Texas since 2020 and have been friends for many years. There was only one problem, the Army had Nicholas living anywhere but Texas. Nicholas heard tall tales about the Gerwing family, and even caught glimpses of them at Reformed Baptist Church of McKinney when he visited home. He got to spend time with Mr. Gerwing through his Dad on multiple occasions, but never met the rest of the family. Nicholas' sister, Audrey, raved about this girl named Charlotte, one of the dozens of Gerwing daughters. Ok maybe it's just five but it seemed like way more. For better or worse, Nicholas had the impression that Charlotte was obsessed with him from afar. The details are a bit blurry. To this day Charlotte vehemently denies this allegation but it has yet to stand before a jury. Stay tuned. Anyways, under this (possibly) false deduction Nicholas mustered the courage to ask Charlotte on their first date on December 31, 2024, and somehow convinced her to go on a second date the next day. Tragically for both of them, Nicholas was whisked back to South Korea the day after that. What ensued was an 11-month long-distance relationship between Charlotte in Texas and Nicholas 15 times zones away. During this time they only saw each other over three in-person trips before Nicholas proposed, one of which was Charlotte's first international trip to see a guy she just met. Quite an act of faith. Through video calls, care packages, and many letters they fell in love and grew closer in ways that only God could have orchestrated. It wasn't long before they both realized they were lock-step on all the important stuff: faith, family, kids, politics, money, and work. Nicholas got the hint and proposed on November 26, 2025. Now we’re ready to close the distance, start this next chapter together, and we're so grateful to have you celebrate with us!
