Porto is one of the best cities in the world (not bias) with different areas to stay depending on what you prefer. Airbnb is quite popular and very good value. If you want to explore the city while you are here, stay anywhere in Old Town. The closer you are to the river, the more scenic it will be. If you want to combine it with a beach holiday, the best areas will be around Areia/Vila do Conde/Povoa de Varzim.
