The neighborhood of Old Louisville is home to one of the nation's largest cluster of Victorian homes. The neighborhood is full of gorgeous tree and fountain lined courts that you can explore. Check out their website to book a guided walking tour! Oh, did we mention, there's a mansion known as the Pink Castle?!
The Big Four Pedestrian Bridge connects Louisville to Jeffersonville, Indiana. It's a 2-mile round trip and you can explore historic downtown Jeffersonville when you arrive on the other side. Make sure you visit Schimpff's Confectionery! You'll also recognize this as the bridge where Charlotte proposed to Rebecca!
Everyone knows Louisville is home to the Kentucky Derby, but did you know there's a museum!? In addition to visiting the historic Churchill Downs, you can also learn about the history of the Derby, including how Black jockeys dominated the race at the turn of the century. There is an admission fee.
The Speed Art Museum is located on the University of Louisville campus, right by the Library building that Rebecca works in. It's also where Charbecca had their first date (the Wiltshire Cafe inside the museum). There is an admission fee.
East Market District (Nulu) is just outside of downtown Louisville with fun local shops, restaurants, and bars. Everything from a hip plant shop, a spot that sells local art and Louisville themed goods, and independent book shop. It's also the home to Louisville Cream, the best ice cream spot in town!
One of the most well-known spots in the 'ville, Bardstown Road in the Highlands neighborhood is several miles of local businesses, bars, and restaurants, including vintage stores, a cat cafe, and several gay bars. Whether you're in the mood for upscale dining, vegetarian/vegan fare, or international cuisine, this area has it all!
If you're staying a few days and have access to a car, Bernheim Forest is worth the 30-minute drive. It's home to three giants created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo and has miles of gorgeous hiking trails. Better yet, just down the road are the Jim Beam and Four Roses Distilleries!
Wiltshire is hands down the best bakery in town. It also holds a special place in our hearts, as it's where we had our first date! Make sure you try the chocolate croissant and the salted maldon chocolate chip cookie.
