FAQs

The Wedding Website of Olivia Gyssler and Michael Chaney
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP at your earliest convenience–this will make Olivia's life so much easier! Please RSVP no later than July 1, 2026.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Long story short–it's up to you! Want a night away from your kids, no worries and no shame! Can't find childcare and coming from out of state? Bring 'em with! Your children are a welcome addition to our wedding, however please keep in mind our wedding music will not child-friendly and our bar will be open all day! We know how important your little ones are to you and we don't want lack of childcare to interfere with your attendance at our wedding. That being said, we fully plan for our wedding to have a 21+ nature including several hours of open bar time, explicit music, and an afterparty that will end at 2:00 am. We would love to include your children in our special day, but we ask that you strongly consider the nature of our wedding and make the decision that is best for you and your family.

Question

Can I bring a date or plus one?

Answer

We are only able to accommodate guests that were formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you received a plus one they will appear under your name when you RSVP.

Question

What hotel should I stay at?

Answer

We have a room block at the Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook if you don't want to stay close to the venue and amongst other wedding guests. We've also rounded up nearby lodging options to make your planning easy. However, we want you to make the most of your time in Chicago! If you'd prefer to stay downtown to get the full experience we encourage you to find a hotel that's right for you! Check out the "Travel" page for some local hotels that are all 15-20 minutes from the zoo.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We would love to see our family and friends get dressed up with us! We are asking our quests to wear formal attire.

Question

Where can I find the schedule for this weekend?

Answer

For a detailed list of all events –including locations, times, and everything in between–head over to the "Schedule" page for all the information you'll need.

Question

Will transportation be provided to/from the venue?

Answer

No, there is no shuttle from any of the recommended hotels providing transport to the zoo. Guests are responsible for getting to and from the zoo. We recommend car pooling, driving yourself, or using a ride share app. Using GPS or rides hare app? The address is: South Gate Entrance 3300 Golf Rd, Brookfield, IL 60513

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

All guests are responsible for getting themselves to the venue at the start of the evening. Whether you're driving yourself, carpooling with friends, or catching a ride via Uber or Lyft–just be sure to arrive on time so that you don't miss out on the fun!

Question

Where should I park or get dropped off?

Answer

Guests can park or get dropped on in a ride share in at the Discovery Center (South Gate Entrance 3300 Golf Rd, Brookfield, IL 60513.) At the South Gate Entrance, please tell the attendant that you are here for the Chaney-Gyssler Wedding and you will be given instructions on how to get to the Discovery Center. Once you park at the Discovery Center, a zoo tram will take you to the Formal Pool for the ceremony. Please see the map above for more information on locations!

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We kindly ask all guests to arrive to the Discovery Center no later than 5:30 PM to allow for travel to the ceremony site at the Formal Pool. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 PM and we wouldn't want you to miss a single moment!

Question

Are the ceremony and reception at the same location?

Answer

Yes! All of our events–ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are located at the Brookfield Zoo. The locations themselves within the zoo will differ and include the Formal Pool, Tropic World, and Swan Pavilion. Please see the map at the top of the FAQ page for where exactly these sites will be located within the zoo! A zoo tram will transport quests to and from the ceremony at the Formal Pool and reception at the Swan Pavilion.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting the ceremony will be held outdoors. If the skies have other plans we'll bring the celebrations inside. Our cocktail hour location at Seven Seas has both indoor and outdoor spaces–both of which will offer incredible views of the dolphins! The reception will be in a permanent covered pavilion, if the weather cooperates we will remove the walls to have an open-air space.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes! Come thirsty. We'll have an open bar flowing all night–cheers to that!

Question

Is there an after party?

Answer

Of course there is! After the reception has finished (approximately 11:45 PM) we will be heading to the after party! We're still working on finalizing the location of the party, though. However, transportation will be provided.

Question

What should I do if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

No problem at all, please let us know if you have any food allergies when you RSVP. We are offering a vegetarian food option for all guests when they RSVP but if you need a special meal please don't hesitate to reach out to Olivia (7089532439) to get everything squared away.
