If you're going to be in town through Sunday (which I would highly recommend), you need to check out Passion Community Church. While I may be biased, this is one of my favorite places in Lynchburg. This is a great place to find family, even if you're only in town for a weekend. The kindness and the love the people at this church show is unlike anything I've experienced before. Chandler and I have been attending Passion for years now, and it will always be home. -S
Mission House holds a special place in my heart. At the downtown location, I had my first meeting to start serving with Passion Community Church. This was my first non-seasonal job, where I fell in love with coffee, and where I met some of my best friends for life! Every location is different, so written below is what I would recommend each location for. You're welcome. -S Downtown - Great for a quiet cup of coffee or study session. Mall - Quick grab and go coffee experience, or if you want to see where I worked! Cornerstone - Great for meeting with friends and talking with the lovely baristas!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is what made me fall in love with Virginia. This is also where Chandler and I first said "I love you" and where he proposed. If you like beautiful drives or breathtaking mountains, this is a can't-miss for your visit to Lynchburg! -S The Parkway is full of beautiful pull offs for quick photos and even quick hikes. If you are here long enough for the Parkway try Thunder Ridge or Ravens Roost for a sunset. Humpback Rocks for a quick hike well worth being out of breath for, or Panther Falls if you are looking to cool off. The Parkway really could take a week or even more to fully explore but if you are able to just get a taste of it, you will see why we love it! -C
Any of the trails downtown I would highly recommend. During the summer, if I wasn't at work or at church, I was walking one of these trails. It has all the beauty of a hike without the incline. If you have some time to kill and are looking for something active to do, this is for you! -S
If I could only recommend one restaurant to you, I would unashamedly recommend La Carreta. Now there are many different locations for this restaurant, but they are not all created equal. Every location has it's own unique experience, my personal favorites are the Langhorne or Madison Heights locations. -S
Here in Lynchburg we are surrounded by some of the best Disc Golf courses in the world. Me and my roommates (Groomsmen) used to play many of these courses every saturday and whenever we got a chance during the week. Courses like Camp Hydaway, Liberty East and Independence Park are super technical and quite difficult for the non-professional. Falling Creek Park, Sandusky Park, Peaksview Park, and University of Lynchburg are excellent, not as difficult courses in the area for a quicker round. New London Technical tops the list off being one of the top courses in the world, and the future site for 2024 World Championships. So borrow a disc from me if you need and go play a round at one of these courses and see why it has become one of my favorite past times! -C
Rookie's is a special place to my family. We love ice cream and we love cookies. That is exactly what Rookie's is; an ice cream Sandwhich place that has figured out how to do it very well. Savannah and I first met at Rookie's under the yellow hanging lights, in the cold winter air, with colder ice cream, and warm cookies in hand. -C
