Train
Guests arriving in JFK can take the AirTrain to the city. If you are taking AirTrain JFK, please use Google Maps to know which subway line you will transfer to and which stop to get off at to reach your destination. To go to our wedding ceremony venue from NYC, you may take the Metro-North New Haven (Red) Line from Grand Central Station (GCT). Your stop will be Stratford - about 1 hour and 40 mins travel time from GCT. From Stratford train station, the church will be a 5-6 minute Uber/Lyft ride away. To go back to NYC after our reception or the next day (if you stay in CT after our wedding), you can take the same line from New Haven Union Station. Your stop will be Grand Central Station. You will have to take an Uber/Lyft to go to Union Station.
Rental Car
Driving a car is advised if you plan to go to Connecticut before our wedding day (August 31 or earlier), to go around the state, and to go back to NYC after our wedding reception. There are several car rental options to choose from (Avis, Hertz, etc.) but we usually use Budget or Enterprise. Please check the rates on their respective websites to compare. Alternatively, you can use Uber or Lyft although this might become more expensive as you do more trips. Tips: - If you are planning to stay in NYC for a few days, we don't recommend renting a car upon arrival in the airport since parking and driving will be tough in NYC (best to take the train to go around). You can rent a car only when you need to go to CT. - If you do not intend to stay in NYC, renting a car from the airport to go to CT may be a better option instead of taking Uber/Lyft. Please check and compare car rental vs. Uber/Lyft rates.
Travel Note
For those who want to rent a car, make sure to bring your foreign driver's license with you. You might not need an International Driving Permit (IDP) since it is usually needed only if your license is not in English, but please do check what the rental company's policies and other requirements are. For more information on IDP, click on the website below.
Flight
Flying to NYC is the best option for our international guests. We recommend that you arrive a few days before the wedding day so you can adjust to the time difference and have enough time to explore NYC! For our guests who are flying domestic, do not intend to visit NYC, and/or arriving on the day of the wedding itself, BDL (Hartford, CT) is another option that is closer to our venue (1 hour drive) than JFK or LGA (1.5 hour drive). From experience though, flights to/from BDL are more expensive than flights to/from NYC airports.
Travel Note
