Yes, plenty of free parking right out front of Alta Peruvian Lodge and at The Goldminer's Daughter (the Alta Ski Resort main parking lot).
Please plan to arrive around 3 - 3:30pm, to give time to mingle and maybe have a drink before we start the ceremony at 4pm!
Formal attire, not strict! Ceremony will be outside, consider sun protection, reception will be inside. Please remember a warm layer for night time as it does cool off in the mountains at this elevation.
We are welcoming children preferably from family only. We are happy to make exceptions to those traveling. Please consider child care during the ceremony and reception if possible. We will likely hire a sitter to be at the Peruvian so that adults can party with us!
Most guests are able to bring a plus one. If we did not specify your partner/plus one on the invite, please confirm who you are bringing with you in advance. We do have limitations at our venue and caps on catering, so please reach out!
We highly recommend staying at The Goldminer's Daughter, at Alta Ski Resort, where we have blocked the entire hotel for the weekend and it is adjacent to the venue. Just down the street is The Cliff Lodge at Snowbird Resort, which you will want to book in advance as it may be used by other wedding parties. This option is a little pricier but has great amenities for children. There are a few other hotels in the ski resort area, and also at the base of the canyon (about a 15 minute drive) in Sandy/Cottonwood Heights. There are also many Air Bnb/VRBO options in the area.
Our hope is that most guests stay in close proximity to the venue and enjoy the mountains with us for the weekend. The Goldminer's Daughter hotel is walking distance across a parking lot from the venue. Many air bnb's in the area are likely 1-2 miles away. Consider bringing your bike? Ubers and Lyfts are not typically available or reliable in the canyon if you are planning to return to Salt Lake City proper at night. You may be able to reserve one in advance. Please plan accordingly. Please DO NOT drink and drive. If staying at the Cliff Lodge, they may be able to help you arrange a private shuttle, but they do not offer one that goes to Alta.
Yes, please let me know if you have an absolute allergy. We will provide vegetarian options.
At 8,500 ft above sea level, typically the weather is sunny and dry during the day with temps ranging from upper 70's to mid 80's (very different from the hot Salt Lake valley, which may be in the 90's during this time). Often a mountain breeze keeps temps pleasant, but remember to bring sun protection as it is strong up here! If any rain is in the forecast, it'll likely be light and brief. At night, the temperatures do cool down into the low 60's and is perfect to sleep with the windows open. Bring a warm layer for when the sun goes down.
The Goldminer's Daughter and Alta Peruvian Lodge will have coffee/tea/water and some snacks available during the day. A few restaurants in the area include: - Swen's at Snowpine Lodge, Alta, weekend brunch, nightly dinner, $$ - The Gulch Pub at Snowpine Lodge, Alta, lunch and dinner, $$ - Birdfeeder, Snowbird Plaza, daytime snacks and grill, $ - The Atrium, cafe at Snowbird, $ - Baked and Brewed, cafe at Snowbird, $ - Tram Car Pizza, at Snowbird, $ - The Tram Club, bar at Snowbird, $ - The Forklift, at Snowbird, breakfast, lunch and dinner, $$ - SeventyOne at Snowbird, breakfast, lunch and dinner, $$ - Steak Pit at Snowbird, dinner only $$ - The Aerie at Snowbird, fine dining $$$, dinner only

Utah is a little WEIRD with alcohol. Any grocery store will typically sell beer and seltzers under 5% ABV. Any higher percentage beer, wine and spirits will only be sold at a liquor store. Although we will plan to provide drinks for the reception and cocktail hour, if you would like some personal libations to enjoy after a glorious hike, or for a little secret swig at the wedding, we recommend bringing some up for the weekend. The closest liquor store down the canyon is DABS Utah State Liquor in Sandy, UT. Open 11am-10pm M-Sat, closed Sundays. If you need some last minute dranks, The General Gritts or The Cliff Sundries at Snowbird has some for sale.
For last minute needs, General Gritts at Snowbird is open 8am-8pm. They have a selection of alcohol as well. Local grocery stores include: - Smiths - Harmons - Trader Joe's - Sprouts - Whole Foods
No, as Little Cottonwood Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon are part of our watershed, dogs are NOT allowed in any part of the canyon, even in your car. Do not plan to bring your furry friend hiking here.
