Take the Train! Or take a 2hr 30min drive south on the beautiful Seward Highway takes you to a must go-to spot in Alaska for a day trip or overnighter. Seward has much to offer including Fjord Glacier Tours, Alaska Sea life Center, Exit Glacier, and many food and gift shops to explore. If you are interested in camping the Seward Highway offers many beautiful locations along the way. Just be alert of any construction traffic on the highway!
With many cabin and lodging options it is a great secondary destination to Anchorage. Talkeetna is a small town 2 hrs north of Anchorage Alaska. It has many little shops and a few delightful places to eat (Talkeetna Spinach Bread is a favorite!). Many beautiful views on the way up and if the weather is clear a good chance of seeing Denali!
is a sanctuary dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education, research and quality animal care. Located outside anchorage on the Seward highway, enjoy over 200 acres of animal enclosures by touring our scenic 1.5-mile loop, accessible by foot, by bike, or by car, while learning about our resident wildlife.
Our go to bar - Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse has been a downtown staple for live, local, and national entertainment for the past 26 years. Join us this summer for the biggest concert series Alaska has ever seen. Also try their sister bar/restaurant FlatTop for pizza and beer right next door. $$
Alaska eats the most ice-cream per capita. So of course we recommend going to one of our local iceream parlors. With two locations and creative flavors (also offering vegan and gluten free options) it is a great place to go for something sweet!
