On a brisk day in February 2017, Ashley had finished up her final day managing events at Phipps Conservatory. To celebrate, she and (now bridesmaids) Julia Chabala and Taylor Ross ventured to Walnut Grill for the trio's favorite day of the week - Wine Wednesday. Bottles were half off, so naturally the gals shared 2 bottles...per person. Taylor had been suggesting that Ashley reach out to her (almost) boyfriend's roommate (our now dearest Paul) for a year or so. Because he was living in Florida at the time, Ashley declined...until that second bottle of Moscato hit and she sent him a message on (of all platforms) Snapchat. Once she realized his last name was Cecil, like the beloved township she was raised in, the challenge was accepted and she proceeded to make him fall deeply in love with that sweet, sarcastic charm of hers. Once Paul had moved back to Canonsburg from Vero Beach in May that year, Taylor told Ashley they were "just going for a drive" and drove her to the golf house (herein referred to as "the frat house"). Ashley was immediately greeted with Paul's signature "daaaaamn girl!" upon entering the frat house. Paul was wearing a navy hoodie and bright orange shorts, which led her to believe this man did not know how to style his clothing, but later learned that those were the colors of his cherished Tennessee Volunteers/Denver Broncos - and he is rarely in anything but khakis and Peter Millar polos. The next ~7 years are history, with the couple getting engaged in June of 2022 (after much harassment from the bride-to-be's family, friends, coworkers, and social media followers). Ashley can't wait to finally complete the challenge of obtaining the last name Cecil, and Paul...well...Paul is pretty agreeable and really doesn't have another choice. We can't wait for the long-awaited celebration and to bring these two families/friend groups together! Cheers!
