Head east through Montauk town and you will see a big sign for "Shadmoor State Park" on your righthand side about a half a mile after town. This is a great easy hike, about a mile long, that takes you along the ocean atop Montauk's Hither Hills. You can continue walking eastward down to the beach and hit Montauk's famous Ditch Plains Beach. Sign up for a surf lesson! For longer hike options, check out the trails in Hither Hills State Park such as Serpents Back, Old Tar Road, Old North Road, Walking Dunes, etc.
