How We Met

Another Hinge success story!

Although Cathryn wanted to stay longer and hang, we can thank now bridesmaids Steph and Alison for ushering her out the door to get ready for a Hinge date she was set to meet in five minutes. Cat arrived a fashionable 30-45 minutes late (exact timing is still up for debate). In her defense, she texted Brad a drink order to politely let him know she was still coming... an Old Fashioned, the first of many the couple would enjoy together over the coming years. Brad remembers Cat's exact outfit, mostly because he was so happy when after a full hour, she finally took off her jacket, signaling she'd be sticking around. Cat remembers Brad's big smile when she walked in, the kind that makes you smile big right back. The hours passed easily, and drinks turned into dinner (Cat ordered the steak of course), and neither wanted the night to end. When the restaurant closed, Cat offered to show off some of her bike tricks, but Brad being Mr. Responsible (said no one ever) advised that the date continue elsewhere. Equally as cool, Cat suggested Chumley’s (RIP), what would become the couple’s favorite West Village speakeasy. Last call forced the night to end, but not before Cat provided another great suggestion to slip their fancy Chumley’s chalices into her bag as first date souvenirs. Brad again advised otherwise considering the two were the only remaining at the bar and the staff were lingering, listening and waiting for them to leave. Over eight hours from the date’s delayed start, Brad walked Cathryn home and kissed her goodnight. She did not have to wait days or even hours to hear from him… Brad was texting before he even got home. The conversations, laughs, and adventures have never faded! **Please note there were not bike injuries or stolen chalices in the making of this couple

The Bride & Groom

Across borders and after years of restricted travel, it means so much to Cathryn and Brad to get everyone together to spend time and celebrate their wedding. Cathryn grew up "on" Long Island, NY as the third of four girls. Despite the all-girl family, sports were big in their household. All four played almost every sport (except hockey), and Cathryn went on to play varsity lacrosse at Yale University. There is a single written line in Cathryn’s baby book that still rings true: "Cathryn loves animals and food." She is always up for an adventure, a new restaurant or recipe, a chance to hang with friends and family, or a rainy Sunday with a good book and cuddle with Shyla...maybe Brad too. Brad grew up in Ontario, Canada as the younger brother to his sister, Beth. Equipped with a bully-friendly last name, allergic to peanuts and weighing less than 100lbs going into high school, Brad battled through the adversity by studying and working his way from Queens University to Toronto and ultimately to New York. Each step along the way, Brad built lasting memories and friendships. While his New York relocation was only intended as a short-term experiment, he quickly met Cat and the rest is history. Cathryn and Brad are not an "opposites attract" type of couple. They share many things in common and love being YES people together. They both love to travel and see the world (often by car), surround themselves with friends and family, drink earl grey tea, avoid nuts or just relax in each other’s company. In the last year, the couple has added a member to their pack: Shyla. She also loves to travel, take long naps, has quite the appetite, and is just as excited for a lifetime together as her parents.
