With a slight nod to Harry Potter, our ceremony will feature some magical elements, the most important of which being you! We kindly ask that you wear your house colors. For the muggles, let me explain: When you arrive at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Sorting Hat places you into a "house". "The four Houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each House has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your House points, while any rule breaking will lose House points. At the end of the year, the House with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honour. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever House becomes yours." Gryffindor values bravery, daring, nerve, & chivalry. Its emblematic animal is the lion, its representative gemstone is rubies, & its colours are scarlet and gold. Hufflepuff values hard work, patience, loyalty, & fair play. Its emblematic animal is the badger, its representative gemstone is yellow diamonds, and yellow & black are its colours. Ravenclaw values intelligence, knowledge, curiosity, creativity & wit. Its emblematic animal is the eagle, its representative gemstone is sapphires, & its colours are blue and bronze. Slytherin values ambition, leadership, cunning & resourcefulness. Its emblematic animal is the serpent, its representative gemstone is emeralds, & its colours are emerald & silver.
