Darian and John met in college at Coastal Carolina University in 2007. They exchanged glances all through freshman year, particularly in the Prince building as Darian would stand outside of Spanish class and wait for John to walk by. Darian would get to class early just to see John, a boy she'd never even met. John remembers seeing her each day and thinking..."she's hot". Eventually glances turned into friendship, friendship into love, and 7 years later they were engaged. On September 19, 2014, John proposed to Darian on the beach after a dinner at her favorite restaurant, Thai Cuisine, in Myrtle Beach, SC. The pair already shared a life and a child together and couldn't wait to be married. After some time spent planning, with guest lists and song lists that went on forever, John looked at Darian and said, "Can't we just get married?", to which of course she replied, "Yes." They told their parents about the change in plans and were married a month later on January 16, 2015 in that very same Thai restaurant. It was a small affair with only moms, dads and a few siblings. Though they wished they could celebrate with everyone, being married and starting this new chapter of life just could not wait. Darian's mom asked her what made John the one. Darian told her mom that John challenged her to grow, he taught her things; she could have conversations with him for hours. He was the smartest man she'd ever met. He had wisdom for a young man. He didn't think only about himself; he thought about how he impacted others, he cared about what it meant to be a father, and a good person. To this day, he is that same man, smart, wise, and good. Now, after a move to St. Thomas, and two more children, John and Darian are ready for their 10-year marriage anniversary! And because they never really had a "wedding", a vow renewal seemed like the perfect opportunity to invite everyone to celebrate.
