Travel & Accommodation

The Wedding Website of Cassidy Higgins and Sean Taylor
How to get to Positano and where to stay! We recommend booking your flights and hotels no later than 6 months before the wedding (March) in order to get the best rates and the most choice, but ideally even earlier than that! Positano is an incredibly popular travel destination and the best hotels book up quickly – we have seen hotels sell out of their basic rooms more than 9 months in advance. If you think you found a good deal, book it! Also, be aware of where AirBnb's are actually located if exploring that option – some say Positano but are a bit of a hike from the town. There are also many hotels I haven't covered here, so do not feel obligated to adhere to this list! I just know it can be overwhelming. Text me if you have any questions! *Please make sure your passport satisfies the 6 month validity passport rule. Most European countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least six months after the final day of travel.

Flight

Fly into Naples or Rome

The best airport to fly into to go straight to Positano is Naples. The next closest airport is Rome, which sometimes has cheaper rates and would be worth flying into if you want to explore another part of Italy before the wedding festivities begin! Trains run frequently between Rome’s Stazione Termini and Naples’s Stazione Centrale. Once you arrive in Naples you can arrange for car transportation to the Amalfi Coast to take you directly to your hotel. This service should be booked in advance and it will take about 90 minutes to get to Positano. Some airlines that we have seen good rates from NYC and DC are: TAP Air Portugal (and you can extend your layover by a few days on either end in Lisbon!), Turkish Airlines, Air Lingus, SAS, and United. United usually has a direct flight to NAP from EWR! We recommend booking your flight at least 6 months before the wedding to ensure the best rate!

Train

From Rome to Naples by Train

From Rome airport there is a non-stop “Leonardo Express” train that goes to the main train station in Rome, Stazione Termini. You can buy tickets in the train station or online. For more information on buying tickets you can type in this link: http://goo.gl/Mcuj2 Trains from Rome Termini run frequently to Naples. The Frecciarossa line is the fast train which takes only 70 minutes. You can arrange for car transportation from Naples to the Amalfi Coast that will take you directly to your hotel. We recommend booking this service in advance.

Rental Car

Naples to Positano by Car

Positano is about an hour and half drive from Naples. The easiest way to get to Positano from Naples is by private transfer (taxis or vans). We definitely do NOT recommend renting a car. The roads are very difficult to navigate and it is difficult to park. Hiring a taxi/van directly from Rome airport to Positano takes about 3 hours. Some suggested transfer companies: Jack the Driver or Positano Drivers. If you can coordinate with other people arriving around the same time, you can split a van with other guests!

Travel Note

The World is Your Oyster

We encourage all of our guests to tack on travel either before or after our wedding – or both! Once you fly to Europe, it is incredibly easy and inexpensive to get almost anywhere else over here, and as you all know, packing tons of travel in at once has been our modus operandi for the past few years. There are so many incredible places in Italy to check out (we have about 5 trips in mind in this country alone!), but we would also highly suggest the South of France, Croatia, Greece, Mallorca or Portugal among many, many others! Cassidy has itineraries for all of these places and more, so if you are considering extending your trip, feel free to reach out to her for some recommendations! A sample itinerary might be: Fly into Rome, spend 2 days there touring the ancient city and taste testing all of the cacio e pepe – train to Naples to explore the Amalfi Coast (and attend our wedding!) (4-5 days) – fly from Naples to Dubrovnik or Split and ferry to Hvar for a few days of beach clubbing before heading home!

Great five star hotel with a rooftop pool! Located right next to the port and is right on the beach, so at the base of the town! This would be particularly convenient for guests in the wedding party as we will be leaving from the port on Friday and Sunday. It can definitely feel a little crowded in that area, so be mindful of that if you are sensitive to noise and crowds. Right by all of the beach restaurants too!

Villa Principe Giovanni is another great value in Positano! Rooms start around €300 and almost all of them have a private balcony or terrace and sea views.  +39 339 832 1353

These villas are beautiful, have their own pools and huge terraces, and have elevators that take you down to a private beach that you can use! They are a little way out of town and it would require a taxi to get into town, but would be a great option for a group! Villa Maria Rosaria sleeps 10, Villa Azalea sleeps 8, and Villa Begonia sleeps 4 (2br). Bookable on their site, on AirBnb, or through Expedia/Booking.com

House Or Rental

AirBnb

There are also a few great AirBnb options in Positano and we encourage you to look at their app to see what is available! Sharing an AirBnb with 4-8 people can really help you find a great place with a ton of value. Just be sure to check the actual location of the place and make sure it is in town. You definitely do not want to stay too far outside of the center of Positano!
