Travel Note
The wedding will take place between Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. Southwest is a quaint little town in what is affectionately referred to as the Quietside (less busy). It is closest to the best swimming spots and has several hiking options nearby. This is where Casey's family stays. Bar Harbor is the hub of all activity. It is a cute town with lots of restaurants and shops, but can be quite packed (note: parking is not the easiest, though most hotels will offer parking). This is Finn's stomping ground. Choose whichever sounds most appealing to you! It is about a 30 min drive between towns. We recommend access to a car in either place as it is necessary to get to most of the amazing locations (and is the easiest way to get to the Island). If you choose not to have one, the Island Explorer is a free bus that goes through the National Park and around the Island: https://www.exploreacadia.com/routefinder.html.
Travel Note
We are aware that our idyllic slice of paradise is not the most accessible. However, it is totally worth it! Options: Fly into Boston Logan Airport (cheapest) and drive about 5 hours to the Island. Visit lots of lovely Maine towns along the way. Fly into Portland (PWM) and drive about 3 hours (also see many cute towns), probably similar in price to Bangor. Fly into Bangor (BGR) and drive an hour to the Island. You will likely have a layover, but it will get you a lot closer. You can rent a car from here, but they book up quickly, so plan ahead! Fly into Bar Harbor (BHB) and drive 20-30 min into town (may be able to get a taxi or a friend to pick you up; less rental car options here). Guaranteed to have at least one layover. Teeny tiny airport, not going to be the cheapest. However, if the timing works out, there are sometimes pretty good flights from Boston to BHB (not sure the travel sites will arrange that for you; you might have to piece together your own connection). If you don't want to (or can't) rent a car, check out this car-free travel guide for getting to Acadia: https://www.exploreacadia.com/guide.html
House Or Rental
If you are staying for a week (or more!) to get the most out of our Island, renting a house can be a good option. Airbnb and VRBO are growing in popularity on the Island, so it's worth a look. Alternatively, many people use realtors to rent their cottages. This is a good option for families or friends that want to share a house (it can end up being much cheaper than a hotel when split among friends). These are booking up possibly even faster than hotels for our date, so no pressure, but don't procrastinate. Also, be aware that many weekly rentals are Saturday-Saturday, which means you're moving in or out on the wedding day (if you're lucky you will find a Sun-Sun). There are many realtor options: https://www.knowlesco.com/vacation-rentals/rental-landing-page, http://www.lsrobinson.com/rentals/search/, https://acadiacornerstonerealestate.com/bar-harbor-vacation-rentals/. Not to overwhelm anyone, but a quick Google search will provide even more--vacation rentals are big around here.

One last option! If you love the great outdoors, there are beautiful campgrounds on the Island. Definitely a lower cost option. Who doesn't love a campfire and s'mores?!
