You are able to book flights from most cities to Ponta Delgada (PDL). If you are booking from Calgary you will book YYC to PDL but will most likely stop over in Toronto (YYZ).

If you wish to rent an automatic transmission vehicle it may be advised to book in advance. If you have rental car insurance coverage through a travel credit card you may need a print out from your credit card insurance provider that states they will insure the car. Portugal and Europe have more stringent laws on rental car insurance than North America.
