The dress code for our event is cocktail attire/semi formal attire. For women, think long dresses, pantsuits/jumpsuits, or formal short or midi dresses. For inspiration and clarification, this link should be helpful! https://www.theknot.com/content/cocktail-wedding-attire Neutrals and fall colors encouraged!
We are leaving this up to the parents' discretion. You know your children best! Please keep in mind that this is a formal event and that we request that guests remain quiet during our ceremony. Alcohol will be served to those 21+, and the DJ may play songs that are explicit in nature during the reception. Please use your best judgement when deciding if your children should be present at the cocktail hour and reception.
There are two parking garages convenient to our venue: The Garage at Manor Complex (564 Forbes Avenue) and the BNY Mellon Center Garage (500 Grant Street). If you are staying at the EVEN hotel block, the Forbes Garage will be most convenient for you.
For the ceremony, the space is more intimate, so seating will be reserved for immediate family in front and also for guests who may be unable to stand or have trouble standing. Sit/stand on whichever side of the aisle! Everyone will have an assigned seat for the reception.
We would love for you to take as many pictures as you would like at the reception! At the ceremony, we would ask that everyone put away their phones and cameras and be present with us. No worries, our talented photographer will capture the ceremony and we would be happy to share those pictures with you, should you want them.
Both of our events are within the Allegheny County Courthouse, but the ceremony will be held inside in the Grand Staircase area and the reception will be held outside in the courtyard.
We hope it will be a lovely fall evening, and if that is not the case, both the ceremony and reception will be inside at the Grand Staircase and in the surrounding foyer areas.
We will be walking to Howl at the Moon which is about a 10 minute walk from the venue. Feel free to join us for drinks, live music, and dancing! This venue is suited for those 21+ only.
First, thank you so much for traveling to celebrate with us! We are still working out if we will do a hotel block, but please feel free to reach out to the bride or groom about recommendations in various parts of the city or if there are any updates on block info.
As is Pittsburgh tradition, there will be a cookie table! Ben's family is from Western PA, and that is something that is so tied to the wedding culture and is a great way to showcase family recipes. Apparently, Ben's Gidoo was famous for bringing home a big shoebox of cookies at every wedding he attended... we will be providing boxes for you to take home some cookies too! If you'd like to participate in this tradition, please let Carolyn know (you are by no means expected to bring cookies!).
We ask that all of our guests be fully vaccinated per the CDC guidelines (as both the bride and groom are healthcare professionals, this is a value we hold strongly). If you are unable to be vaccinated, we respectfully request that you wear a face mask for the entirety of the event.
