Caroline and Brett "met" during Valentine's Day weekend 2020 via Hinge. Caroline messaged Brett, "Wanna take me golfing?", not realizing just how much Brett wanted to take anyone golfing. Their first date happened the following weekend and turned into a day of San Francisco adventures. Beers at Woods Outbound, a walk on Ocean Beach, and ceviche & margs at Celia's by the Sea. COVID soon emerged, turning their relationship into a series of outdoor adventures all over the city such as Presidio hikes, Golden Gate Bridge walks, Legion of Honor picnics, park hangouts, and more. These special moments really turned San Francisco into their home.

Brett proposed to Caroline on April 16, 2022 - the morning of a belated birthday party for Caroline. Caroline woke up early to take their husky, Bandon, out, and when she returned to bed for morning doggy cuddles, Brett shared he had "one more birthday gift." He proceeded to throw - yes, throw! - the ring box towards Caroline and asked, "Do you want to take care of Bandon and me for the rest of your life?". Naturally Caroline said yes, and they shared their surprise with friends later at the party. Though she is still waiting for Brett to get down on one knee.
