State Street is a pedestrian only street which, starts at the State Capital and ends at the "Library Mall", where the university is centrally located. The "Library Mall" is near the Wisconsin Historical Society, The Memorial Library and the Memorial Union. State Street is full of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and retail stores. This is the center of where students hang out and is always full of life.
If you are interested in Modern Art
The Memorial Union has a really nice outdoor hanging out spot on the lake, but they also have the Rathskeller where you can sit inside and Babcock Hall Ice Cream which was made with the milk from the cows at the university's dairy. Quintessential Madison.
