Our love story started like most modern love stories - with a like and a swipe. After speaking online for a month, because Joe wouldn’t pull his finger out and arrange a date, we finally met at a pub near a prison where Carmen feared a kidnapping from an escapee on her walk there - not the best start but thankfully it turned out to be worth it. (We promise Joe hasn’t been keeping her hostage for the last four years…) Carmen moved into the flat just over a year later and we started to build our home. Living together was easy from the start, it just felt right - even though Joe was worried about the 6 van loads of belongings Carmen brought into the small 2-bed in Wandsworth. Life together has been a mix of adventure and everyday moments, from exciting travels and exploring everything London has to offer, to quiet pottery nights and competitive games of Fortnite (yes, we play videogames and regularly lose to 11-year-olds). Most of the time, it’s just us enjoying being together and having fun along the way. Almost four years after that first date, Joe proposed in Cancún, Mexico, during a private dinner by the ocean. It was a complete surprise (for Carmen, at least) and the perfect start to our next chapter.
