We will be getting married in the afternoon of Saturday September 24, 2022 at Camp Chingachgook on Lake George! We knew Camp Chingachgook was the perfect place for us to have our wedding the moment we saw it . As an operating summer camp, this is a really unique venue right on the water. We will be updating this website frequently as more wedding plans are made, but we wanted to make sure our loved ones could start to get excited for the big day too!
Josh and I went to the same middle school, high school, and church (he was a grade above me), and yet we really have minimal memories of each other. Over the years we've been able to place ourselves at shared events, and it's pretty incredible that we don't remember ever directly interacting. In 2017 Josh and I connected online and only vaguely remembered each other, but we decided to meet up for coffee. That one cup of coffee lasted us almost six hours as we sat and talked nonstop at Kru in Saratoga. It was so nice to reminisce with someone about our younger years, and we quickly realized we had SO many mutual memories, even though we ran in different circles. We've been inseparable since that first cup of coffee. Our second date was barely two days later- an entire day trip to Burlington for pizza and a trip to a speakeasy for some beers. I feel like it's easy to lose momentum after the first few dates, but thankfully our adventures have only grown. To this day, we can sit in a coffee shop and talk for hours on end!
When Josh suggested we take a chairlift ride at West Mountain to leaf peep at the summit, it honestly didn't raise any suspicions for me because it's pretty typical for us to go on neat adventures when we have free time. I was equally unfazed when Josh crafted a story and said my dad had gotten us and my parents tickets through some connections, because as many of you know, my dad is a social butterfly. Out of the four of us, exactly none of us are skiers, so the chairlift ride up was beautiful, but I was certainly white knuckling it. Josh, even through the bounciness, remained calm. When we reached the top, we had to take a short hike to get to an overlook. This would normally not be an issue, but we had a short window of time before the last chairlift down for the day-- so we hustled! We reached the overlook with minutes to spare, and the view was incredible. My parents offered to take some pictures of Josh and I, ending with a picture of us looking away from the camera towards the beautiful view. It was then that Josh got down on one knee! My parents whipped champagne, cups and streamers out of their backpacks and we all celebrated on top of the mountain! I'm very close with my family, so I'm incredibly grateful that they were there to witness one of the most special moments of my life. After a few minutes of celebrating we had to BOOK IT back to the chairlift! We made it just in time, with congratulations from the staff and fellow guests, and enjoyed a gorgeous ride down. Josh could not have planned a better way to propose. The core of our relationship has been so much about our love of exploring the world together, and that moment was truly perfection.
We have frequented the beach attached to Camp Chingachgook to catch sunsets at the lake for the past several years. A few years ago after a hike, we stopped by the beach and witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen. I snapped a picture, of course, and we have continued to chase the views there ever since. Our save the dates are actually hand painted by Josh from that very picture! We are both incredibly sentimental, so being able to incorporate a memory we love, with Josh's very own artwork, has been really special.
