It all started on a crisp November day in 2020 at Logan Circle in Washington, DC. After being pestered by Kate on hinge for a week or so, Carlos decided to meet Kate for an afternoon picnic date after work. Kate brought some delicious homemade cookies and a refreshing Austin TX cider, and Carlos brought a blanket which he made sure was a safe 6 feet apart from Kate's blanket because he was only there to catch feelings, not COVID. They spent a delightful hour chatting and getting to know each other, enjoying each other's company and watching DC dogs run and play around the statue in the middle of the circle. Time flew by, and before they knew it, Kate had to rush home to catch The Bachelorette night with her friends. Little did they know, that simple picnic would be the beginning of their wonderful journey together.

On February 29th, 2024, Carlos proposed to Kate on the shores of Boerne Lake. Just a short walk from Kate's parents' house, the lake holds a special place in our hearts, as over the years this is a place we have shared many happy hours, sunsets, and serene walks to and from the lake with Kate's family. When Carlos proposed, Carlos' parents were visiting Kate's family's home in Boerne for the first time and were in on the proposal surprise. Together, Kate's parents and Carlos' parents eagerly waited back at Kate's parents' house for a thumbs up text from Carlos. At the lake, with the tranquil waters and beautiful surroundings as our backdrop, Carlos got down on one knee and asked Kate to marry him. With joy in her heart, Kate said yes! After receiving the thumbs up text, Kate and Carlos' parents ran down to the lake with prosecco, cake, and balloons, ready to celebrate our new chapter together. It was a magical moment, made even more special by the love and support of our families.
