Flight
Madison's airport is the most convenient, but also one of the most expensive in the country: average round-trip ticket prices approach $500. We recommend using a fare-tracking app such as Google Flights, Hopper, Skyscanner, or Hipmunk. Madison has scheduled service on American, Delta, Frontier, and United. If you rent a car, it's an easy 30 minute drive from the airport to Sauk City. Uber or Lyft costs around $50 one-way. Less expensive airports are Milwaukee (approx. 90 miles from Madison) or Chicago (approx. 150 miles). Both cities are served by both full-service and low-cost carriers including Southwest (MKE, MDW), jetBlue (ORD), Frontier (MKE, ORD), and Spirit (ORD). Both airports have regular bus connections to downtown Madison: Badger Bus Lines from Milwaukee (approx. $25 one-way, 90 minutes travel time) and Van Galder Bus Company from Chicago (approx. $30 one-way, between 2 hours and 45 minutes (ORD) to 4 hours (MDW) travel time).
Travel Note
Sauk Prairie is a small city (really two villages next to each other) surrounded by farmland, and as such is totally car-dependent. If you can get yourself to Madison but do not wish to rent a car, most likely someone will be able to bring you the rest of the way and transport you to the wedding and other events.
