Enjoy the Beach!
Life is better at the Beach! Sunrise, sunset and all day in between the beach offers a special opportunity to change your perspective and enjoy the ocean. Genevieve and Carl both call the stretch of Atlantic Beach between 7th Street & 10th Street home. There is some car (and cart) parking on 7th street, and along Beach Avenue between 7th Street & 8th Street, but any folks staying at the beach can certainly walk as the distance is never far!
Dutton Island Preserve
Dutton Island is a perfect spot to appreciate the unique beauty of where you are; in Northeast Florida, in Atlantic Beach, in a pristine salt marsh with abundant wildlife. Genevieve's Father led the effort to protect the island as a city park with walking trails and observation areas, for all to enjoy, during his service as Mayor of Atlantic Beach. We encourage you to make a visit to Lyman's Point, at the north end of the island, named in his honor.
Beaches Town Center
Beaches Town Center is the heart of "The Beaches" where Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach conjoin. You'll find boutique retail, restaurants, coffee shops and nightlife in this area - click above to check out their website for a full list of restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. Fun fact - Genevieve's parents played a big role in the direction and development of this now thriving business district. Genevieve & Carl each have a brick with their names on it in the sidewalk somewhere along Atlantic Boulevard, can you find them?
Southern Breeze Cart Rental
Electric golf carts are taking over and you can rent one too! Southern Breeze rents golf carts ideal for scooting around the beach communities, particularly along Beach Avenue in Atlantic Beach, Midway & Strand Streets in Neptune Beach and even over to Dutton Island. Carts aren't allowed on major roads and Eric, founder of Southern Breeze Cart Rental, will give you all the details, safety instructions and an area map!
Sliders Oyster Bar
A recently renovated but beloved mainstay of the community, Sliders Oyster Bar is an excellent option for lunch or dinner that's casual, close to the beach and in mix with everything that Town Center has to offer.
Doro
Compact, contemporary setting for chef-driven seasonal cuisine. A fine dining experience in Neptune Beach!
Le Petit Paris Café
A new and very welcome addition to the Shoppes of North Shore, Le Petit Paris delivers French baked goods, macarons, gourmet salads, quiche (a family recipe), and sandwiches served on fresh baguettes or croissants.
Southern Grounds
Southern Grounds is a coffee shop with a great courtyard area for enjoying the December sun. Genevieve and Carl first reconnected here in December, 2019. It was unclear whether or not it was a date but Genevieve did wear red lipstick!
Homespun Kitchen
Great spot for breakfast burritos, salads, bowls, and smoothies, with organic and vegetarian options.
Pete's Bar
"The place to be since '33" and we hear that the pool tables still only cost a quarter. Featured in John Grisham's novel, "The Brethren," Pete's is an enduring late-night, cash only, jukebox dive, complete with a few crusty characters.
Shorelines Gift Shop
Florida kitsch at its best. Beach-inspired and inexpensive souvenirs abound in this decades old establishment.
Historic Five Points
Five Points is a fun shopping district in the Riverside neighborhood of Jacksonville, in the same area as the wedding venue. It's a great place to poke around if you're exploring in town.
Southern Roots Filling Station
For anyone staying in town, you have to try Southern Roots for vegetarian food, baked goods, and the best coffee in Jacksonville. Buy a bag of Paco's Coffee to take home - The Dream is our favorite.
Cultivate Jax
One of our favorite stores for home goods and gardening supplies, Cultivate Jax prioritizes handcrafted and locally made products.
