Thank you for RSVPing by November 17th!
Please arrive between 4:00 PM and 4:15 PM to get settled and seated for the 4:30 PM ceremony start time. The Stein Gallery adjacent to the Loggia (room with the garden entrance) will be open for anyone who arrives early (if it is not between exhibitions) and will remain open to wedding guests for several hours.
Unfortunately, due to capacity limitations, we had to exclude kids from our wedding ceremony and reception. Infants are welcome. Kids are welcome to the brunch at Joanna's house the next day. Her house is a couple blocks from the beach and across the street from a playground, if either appeals!
Yes. We have rented two school buses to take our guests staying at "the beach" to the wedding venue and back to the beach when the wedding is over. The buses will leave from the Hotel Palms in Atlantic Beach (28 Sherry Dr, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233) at 3:15 PM to head to the Cummer Museum, and will leave from the Cummer Museum (829 Riverside Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207) after the wedding around 10:30 PM. Please check back here for any updated information closer to the wedding date.
Yes, directly across Riverside Avenue from the Cummer Museum is a parking lot reserved for museum and wedding guests. There is also an overflow lot adjacent to the museum.
Yes! Buses will drop us back off at Hotel Palms around 11:15/11:30 PM, and we will continue the party there in the courtyard, where the bridal party and friends are staying. All are welcome to join.
Both! Weather permitting, the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outside in the Cummer Gardens along the St. Johns River. The terrain is a mixture of brick and grass. Dinner will be held inside the Terry Gallery, buffet-style, overlooking the garden. After dinner, we will welcome guests back outside for dancing and frivolity. At all times, the Loggia (the room between where we eat dinner and the outside garden) will have an open bar. There will be another bar in the garden.
Great question! If it rains just a little, bring an umbrella. If it rains a lot, we will move the ceremony inside the Terry Gallery where dinner will be served. Genevieve will meander around the tables showing off her fancy dress and play duck duck goose to get to Carl. Or at least, that's the sense of humor we'll hope for in case of rain, and will make do saying "I do" all snuggled in with our favorite people.
The main courses are: CARVED HERB CRUSTED SIRLOIN OF BEEF with a Mushroom Brandy Ragout; TUSCAN SALMON with capers, artichoke, roasted peppers, and a white wine lemon broth; BLACK BEAN QUINOA STUFFED MUSHROOM - Gluten-Free, Vegan Stuffed Portobello with Quinoa and Black Bean Stuffing, and Red Pepper Romesco Sauce; Please note: If you are vegetarian or vegan, let the staff know and they will bring you a plate separately. Everyone else will go through the buffet line. Food allergies: Check back soon.
Honestly, no idea. It's north Florida in winter - it could be hot, rainy, perfect, or cold. You can bet on the humidity, though. A quick Google search says the following: Daily high temperatures decrease by 5°F, from 70°F to 65°F, rarely falling below 53°F or exceeding 79°F. Daily low temperatures decrease by 5°F, from 52°F to 47°F, rarely falling below 33°F or exceeding 65°F. Average rainfall days: 11.6.
