Kelly’s Man of Honor
Team Bride
Hello, my name is Cheyenne! I’m basically Kelly’s adopted sister but we never started the paperwork, lol. Kelly and I have been going to school together since I moved to her home town in 1st grade, and we were in Girl Scouts throughout elementary. Fast forward to middle school and we were hanging out in her violently burnt orange room. It was there that we shared our girlhood into high school. Then I moved in about halfway of our junior year. We made it through marching band seasons, choir competitions, worked two jobs together, talked about our dating lives, and drove around for hours listening to country music just to waste time and gas. There’s much more to all that, but I’ll save it for a wedding speech. We graduated high school and went our separate ways to pursue work and school. I met my husband at work and we moved to KS to get out of MO and be closer to his family. I probably say y’all and fixin’ way too much, but all I can say is that you can take the girl out of MO, but you can’t take the MO out of the girl. My husband and I now have an almost two year old son, Leo. That’s right, I created the cutest ring bearer to ever live with my own blood, sweat, and tears. He’s the sweetest, funniest, most entertaining little guy. And even though he’s only met his aunties less than a handful of times, he adores them so much and can tell that the brides love him like their own. I’ll see y’all at the wedding to celebrate the two, who I can just tell, were meant to be.
Carissa’s Man of Honor
Carissa : Ky is my wonderful man of honor! And the sidekick in the photo is the lovely Penny. We met years ago and have been through so much together: friend groups, relationships, different chapters of life. I'm so thankful to have a close friend like him. One of the first exposures I had to seeing queer literature was through Ky, and it has been so encouraging being close to someone who is always so curious to learn, so excited about the world and the beautiful queer community. I know we were always meant to be friends and always look forward to our next wayyyy-too-long chat about life. Ky has a wonderful way with words and speaks in metaphors or sarcasm like me sometimes, so it's always a trip. Kelly & I are also so lucky to have made a friend in his incredible partner, Joan. We have had some really fun times hanging together in Austin. We usually eat really good food, play games, and watch comedy together which we all love. I can't wait to see them both and to have Ky beside me for our special day!
Team Bride
Carissa : Tahlia and I met in about 2019 in our Starbucks days. She was actually my supervisor! Y'all... anyways. We have been through a lot together, and have seen each other at lows. I can always count on this girl to encourage me, help find a solution, or just make me laugh about something dumb to forget it all. It's so much fun to have intelligent conversations and learn about the world through her eyes. I'm so so happy and honored to have her in our Team Bride, and can't wait to have her & her lovely partner John there on our special day!
Team Bride
Dezi is a friend that we made during our time in St. Louis! Carissa : After meeting in a queer Facebook group, Dezi & I met up to have coffee and do a plant workshop together. After yapping for far too long, it was decided, we would be friends. Dezi has the biggest heart and is such a patient, loving soul. Hanging out with her has come so naturally, and I miss drinking coffee and talking for hours. I am so excited to see her and her lovely wife, Ashley, and am incredibly honored to have her on our Team Bride! <3

just the cutest ring bearer to ever live
Flower Fairy 🧚
Carissa : Keisha is a friend of mine from over 10 years ago! We met back in our Dave & Buster's days and were laughing together since day one. Keisha has a beautiful heart, cares deeply about her friends, and always makes everyone feel included (and roll on the floor laughing). I'm so honored to have her walk down the aisle with us on Team Bride...and very excited to get ready, eat, drink, and dance together <3

Piano Player
Barbara is my (Carissa’s) great-grandmother, and my favorite feminist icon. She is one of my favorite people of all time; intelligent, emotional, understanding, and has always had such an excitement for life and a wicked sense of humor. We have always enjoyed cooking, reading, the arts (opera, musicals, symphony, plays), and holiday traditions. In my adulthood, we’ve also added Mah Jongg! One of my favorite things to do is take a friend to grandma’s house and have her school us in the game. We drink boxed wine, and take an hour to laugh our ways through a single game. Kelly & I have enjoyed many nights with grandma and company playing. Grandma has always played the piano, teaching it to many people throughout her life and dedicated decades playing for her church. I’m so honored that she will be playing for us as we walk down the aisle. <3
