Kelly’s Man of Honor
Team Bride
Hello, my name is Cheyenne! I’m basically Kelly’s adopted sister but we never started the paperwork, lol. Kelly and I have been going to school together since I moved to her home town in 1st grade, and we were in Girl Scouts throughout elementary. Fast forward to middle school and we were hanging out in her violently burnt orange room. It was there that we shared our girlhood into high school. Then I moved in about halfway of our junior year. We made it through marching band seasons, choir competitions, worked two jobs together, talked about our dating lives, and drove around for hours listening to country music just to waste time and gas. There’s much more to all that, but I’ll save it for a wedding speech. We graduated high school and went our separate ways to pursue work and school. I met my husband at work and we moved to KS to get out of MO and be closer to his family. I probably say y’all and fixin’ way too much, but all I can say is that you can take the girl out of MO, but you can’t take the MO out of the girl. My husband and I now have an almost two year old son, Leo. That’s right, I created the cutest ring bearer to ever live with my own blood, sweat, and tears. He’s the sweetest, funniest, most entertaining little guy. And even though he’s only met his aunties less than a handful of times, he adores them so much and can tell that the brides love him like their own. I’ll see y’all at the wedding to celebrate the two, who I can just tell, were meant to be.

Barbara is my (Carissa’s) great-grandmother, and my favorite feminist icon. She is one of my favorite people of all time; intelligent, emotional, understanding, and has always had such an excitement for life and a wicked sense of humor. We have always enjoyed cooking, reading, the arts (opera, musicals, symphony, plays), and holiday traditions. In my adulthood, we’ve also added Mah Jongg! One of my favorite things to do is take a friend to grandma’s house and have her school us in the game. We drink boxed wine, and take an hour to laugh our ways through a single game. Kelly & I have enjoyed many nights with grandma and company playing. Grandma has always played the piano, teaching it to many people throughout her life and dedicated decades playing for her church. I’m so honored that she will be playing for us as we walk down the aisle. <3
